I've never seen a Wicklow as fit as this year. We also thrived on big moments in the second halves of some of these games. Against Down we won a couple of brilliant moments where Wicklow players chased back what looked like lost causes and then stripped the Down player of the ball.

Playing in the Sam Maguire next year is going to be massive for us. Getting to test ourselves against the top tier is exactly what this panel needs, and it's going to do wonders for football in the county.
We should have beaten Dublin but lack of knowhow against established teams cost us. We'll have lots of opportunities to learn next year.

Vested interest in seeing Wicklow do well as obviously have a lot of time and huge respect for Oisin, would imagine he'll stay on although no one could begrudge him calling it quits on a high note given the travel and commitment involved plus him having a going family.

Have to say I thought Wicklow looked physically miles off it in the first half, getting out muscled and out paced by Down but by God whatever was said or done at half time the exact opposite happened in the second half, hugely impressive stuff as has been said umpteen times since. Didn't see the Dublin game but by all accounts Wicklow were right in it and but for an off day by Jackson with his frees could and should have won and look at the heights the Dubs reached this year. Wicklow will take great confidence from that and from results in the TC and one thing is for sure will fear absolutely nobody in Sam next year, may or may not take a hammering or two but all part of the learning curve and best of luck to them.

Be some craic if they draw Armagh next year!
