Is Anelka still a member of the NF or did his membership expire after he left Arsenal?

::) ::) ::)

His chances of being accepted to the NF are about the same as his chances of being accepted to the KKK.

You were clearing the ball reasonably well from the half back line until this :

When you criticize the Zionist conspiracy you may or may not be a crackpot, but when you also at the same time, are a party to anti-semite views, holding hands with holocaust deniers, dallying with ultra right fascists, smirking in front of jewish memorials, then you are little more than a poison in society.

Does that mean that Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Mary Robinson were kapos at Buchenwald ?

Tottenham Hotspur fans charged for using 'Y-word' in landmark cases

Three Tottenham Hotspur fans today became the first to be charged with a criminal offence for using the word 'Yid'.

The supporters will go on trial accused of racially aggravated abusive behaviour, the Crown Prosecution Service ruled.

The decision comes despite David Cameron earlier standing up for Spurs fans' right to adapt the Y-word as a badge of honour.

The prime minister spoke up last year for Spurs supporters who affectionately call themselves 'Yids' in reference to the club's long-standing Jewish backing.

But three supporters were arrested during home games at White Hart Lane last October and November and bailed ahead of yesterday's announcement.

The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust described themselves as 'saddened but not surprised' by the development.

They said: 'It remains our firm belief that, when used in a footballing context by Tottenham Hotspur supporters, there is no intent or desire to offend any member of the Jewish community.

'We will continue to offer advice and support to any fan arrested by the Metropolitan Police for using the term in such circumstances.'

The CPS confirmed three men had been charged under section five of the Public Order Act.

Scotland Yard said 31-year-old Gary Whybrow, from west London, and Sam Parsons, 24, from Amersham in Buckinghamshire, were arrested when Spurs played Moldovan side FC Sheriff on November 7.

Peter Ditchman, 52, from Bishop's Stortford in Hertfordshire, is charged with committing the offence when Tottenham hosted West Ham United on October 6, and is also accused of possessing cocaine at the game.

All three men were bailed appear before Hendon magistrates on February 4.

The supporters' trust said they had been advised by their lawyers not to comment.

BLOG: Why Spurs fans' Y-word chants aren't racist

Speaking last September, Mr Cameron said: 'There's a difference between Spurs fans self-describing themselves as Yids and someone calling someone a Yid as an insult.

'You have to be motivated by hate. Hate speech should be prosecuted – but only when it's motivated by hate.'

Comedian and Chelsea supporter David Baddiel has been among those most vocally calling for Spurs fans to stop using the Y-word.

His own club's fans have faced counter-allegations of taunting their Tottenham counterparts with hissing noises and Auschwitz chants.

The Y-word controversy is not the only anti-semitism row affecting the English game at the moment.

West Bromwich Albion's French striker Nicolas Anelka was today charged by the Football Association for celebrating a goal with the so-called 'Quenelle' gesture.

The pose was invented by French comedian Dieudonne M'Bala M'Bala, who has repeatedly denied the Holocaust, and is widely-seen as anti-semitic – though Anelka insists it is simply 'anti-establishment'

Chilean League Fines Club for Map of Palestine on Jersey

A club in Chile that is popular among fans of Palestinian descent has been fined by the country's soccer league for wearing game jerseys in which the No. 1 was depicted by a 1947 map of Palestine before the creation of Israel.

Players for Palestino, a club that was founded in 1920 by immigrants from Palestine, have worn the jerseys in all three of their matches so far this season.

"The figure 1 was replaced by a map of the historic Palestine, before the United Nations resolution of Nov. 20, 1947, which established a Jewish state and an Arab state," said the complaint by Patrick Kiblisky, the club president of Ñublense. Kiblisky is Jewish. "This map, which does not take into account the present state of Israel, is a symbol for the Palestinian people. These circumstances mean that its use constitutes a political matter."

There are about 300,000 people of Palestinian descent living in Chile. That is believed to be one of the biggest populations outside the Middle East; the country's Jewish population is under 20,000.

The National Association of Professional Football of Chile on Monday imposed a fine of about $1,300 on Palestino and directed the club to change its jersey design.

"The association is removed from religious and political activities, in general, and anything else which does not have a direct relation to its objectives and to sport," the tribunal said in its six-page decision. "Consequently, the association prohibits any form of political, religious, sexual, ethnic or racial discrimination."

Palestino is in second place in Chile's top division, while Ñublense is in 14th. The teams are not scheduled to face each other until April.

After the team's first game of the season, against Everton, in which the players wore the new jerseys, the director general for the Latin America branch of the Israeli Foreign Affairs Ministry, Itzhak Shoham, met with a Chilean trade official to express his concern.

"While Israel is striving to generate a positive environment to advance toward a two-state solution, it seems inappropriate to use sport for political ends," Shoham said after the meeting, according to The Jerusalem Post.

In response, the Palestinian Federation of Chile said, "We reject the hypocrisy of those who blame this map, but they talk about the occupied territory as disputed territory."

The president of Palestino, Fernando Aguad, said that "we accept the resolution and we will change our uniform."

The controversy in South America comes on the heels of recent incidents in England as the sport grapples with incidents of racism and anti-Semitism. On Tuesday, the French player Nicolas Anelka, who plays in England with West Bromwich Albion, was charged by the country's Football Association for making the quenelle gesture. Some people interpret it as anti-Semitic. Also Tuesday, three fans in London were charged with using the word "Yid" at a game involving Tottenham Hotspur, a club with a large Jewish fan base.

That might be a good start.

The Spurs situation is a bit farcical.

Imagine Spurs fans singing 'We are the Yids', or whatever they sing, for the first half of a match.

Then imagine the oppositing fans signing 'You are the Yids' for the 2nd half.

A Spurs fans complains and all of the opposing fans would have to be arrested.

Then an opposing fan complains and all of the Spurs fans would have to be arrested.

(I hope this happens when Spurs play Chelsea  ;D)

So, a few guys arrested for saying Yid. Yet, Irish people have been called Paddy bastards, Irish gypsies and the likes for years, in football and in everyday life. But, that doesn't count.
