It seems to me that RTE news presenters have a particular gra for sporting metaphors, particularly of the rugby sort.  Legislation is forever being "kicked into touch" or "moved over the line", but I hear nothing of perfectly suitable metaphors like "solo run," "blanket defences" or "third man tackle."  Time to promote Gaelic cliches!

Orior

Oraisteach ,

I hear these complaints all the time, particularly about people using certain business jargon. Would you not agree that these metaphors help explain any points being made?

Why make the english language monochrome when it can be full of colour?
Cover me in chocolate and feed me to the lesbians

ONeill

The minister fcuked the motion over the sideline is another.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

It's too monochrome already, Orior.  Equal representation for GAA cliches, I say.  I'm sure they can squeeze in "back door" somewhere.  And, goodness knows, the work "puck" offers an enticing range of options.

Syferus

Tyrone are back door specialists.

Once you hear it you'll never unhear it. The durty *£$$*£*£$.

There'll be no Gaa cliches milked tonight in GaaBoard land.

Shamrock Shore

Or any references to puke legislation.

One thing that annoys me is the reference in papers to "leafy suburbs" when someone is referencing areas of Site County Dublin.

Are there no trees anywhere else in Dublin?
