Longford senior hurlers to play in Croke Park

June 8 2013 is a historical day for Longford GAA as our senior hurlers face Warwickshire in the Lory Meagher final.

This is the first time our senior hurlers have graced the sacred sod.

Good luck to the lads and well done to the tireless behind the scenes men who battle against all the odds in a county not noted for its prowess with the hurl.

Well done to Longford but I will be rooting for the Men of the West Midlands (probably the only one on here doing so). I was talking to one of men who've been the driving force for hurling in Warwickshire for years and he could hardly conceal his pride and excitement at their achievement. A just reward for years of unheralded and unselfish work both on and off the field. Here's hoping for a hard fought but fair game.
