I went to see Squeeze a couple of weeks ago and they were every bit as good as I expected. Paul Heaton was the support and was every bit as good. One little bit of criticism would be the choice of venue. Birmingham Symphony Hall even with it's "world class" acoustics is not a "Rock n Roll" venue.

went to Glen hansard there on sunday night in the Ulster Hall, an incredible gig and looking at some of the Youtube videos the two vicar street gigs on monday &tuesday were just as good.
for the encore, he took the whole band (about 10 of them, violin players, tupet ,trombone the whole works) down into the middle of the crowd and played like a busking session, covering leonard cohen, mic christoper & the oul triangle. lisa hanigan joine din on the tuesday night in vicar street.

magic stuff

Me and Mrs NS were at that Glen Hansard gig as well. It was brilliant from start to finish. The encore took place right beside us - great stuff. Didn't think much of the support group though - reminded me of Vic and Bob doing Mulligan and O'Hare.

Were just chatting at work today about gig attendance as a doll in work was asking me and another fella if we were for Eminem in the summer! I seriously don't think I will ever go to another gig unless I can get sitting down.

The only problem with Sunday night was I had to stand for nearly 4 hours. It was the first time I have stood at a gig in about 10 years.

Went to Mumford & Sons on Saturday night and they put on a great show. My first time in the Odyssey as well and it's a cracking venue. The only bit that didn't come off was an 'a cappella' attempt at a few songs in the middle of the arena which I couldn't hear.

Agree 100% about Mumford and Sons SE, thoought also the support band Dawes were excellent as well,

They sure were, must check them out.

Maguire01

Villagers in the Black Box and Richard Hawley in the Mandela - both cracking gigs.

The Dubliners in Belfast, average enough, just going through the motions on stage.

The Stunning in Vicar St.

Again.

Very good night all the same.

Rodriguez in Empire in Belfast.  Pretty good considering I hadn't heard a whole pile of his music.  Spoiled a little, however, by folk talking quite loudly throughout.

Ulick

Talking about the Empire, if anyone is about Belfast over the holidays Bap Kennedy is playing his (now annual) gig on the 29th. Thoroughly recommended.

I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

Wrong thread, and I think that thread has not only been removed, there is an order of nuns in the Philippines praying for us.

thin lizzy last week were superb. Old favourites from the live and dangerous as well as chinatown albums all played - plus a few from other releases. Really enjoyable gig.
