Was anyone here at the game against Spain in the 1990 World Cup qualifiers at Lansdowne Road? My cousin, who has been around, said it was the best atmosphere he'd ever encountered. Watching it on World Cup Gold on TG4 not long after that conversation, it was easy to see what he meant

From a neutral perspective the 2005 AIHSF between Cork and Clare was the best atmosphere I witnessed at CP. The Cork crowd made some noise as they came back as had the Clare fans while they were on top. Brilliant brilliant game even if I hoped the result had gone the other way.

Was at that game myself, was something else indeed, the hammering those players took from each other was unreal. That game never got the recognition due to Galway tearing Kilkenny asunder the following week

I'd say the atmosphere in the Excel Arena today would be hard to top.

Should have mentioned in my earlier post that when Trigger scored against the Dutch in 2001 in Lansdowne Raod the place was hopping!!!! Then I went to Slane to see U2....what a day!!

I'd reckon that tomorrow will top it.

The most intimidating by an absolute mile was the night Neil Lennon got attacked against Hearts. It was my first time going to an away match and the atmosphere was f**king mental even before kick off. The hatred in the air that night was scary

Dara O'Briain tweeted this picture he took of Princess Ann at the boxing. She was covering her ears, to drown out the cheers from the Irish crowds for Katie Taylor.
