Surely then there should be some form of punishment for the UCC defender who punched a UUJ attacker in the side last weekend.  Sickens my shite seeing this craic going on, as if its part of the game to hit someone a sly drive in the side.

How long a suspension will Padraig Ó Sé get for this tackle just after throw in ?

Marc Ó Sé gets 4 weeks for a silly slap on O'Gara, the cousin Padraig's one was a woeful 'tackle' which was way more dangerous and possibly premeditated. Both hardly merit the same 4 week ban.

Theres a new category of offense brought in last year in response to the Galvin incidents, 8 week bans.

Will these suspensions be doubled if the player later gets sent off for 2 yellow cards, or is it only for a straight red?

That's complete horseshi* Chris regarding a new category of offence.

Suspensions won't be double for two yellows

For someone who knows a lot about all the new catagories surely you would know its only after 2 straight reds within a 48 week period that you get a doubling of a suspension. But I bow to your superior langerised knowledge !!!
