"Relegation wouldn't be the worst thing to happen to Meath"
Eamonn O'Brien circa January/February 2009

I wonder is that still the thinking this year? Hopefully I suppose.

Not really looking forward to this to be honest. After some really poor football in what must be said in all our games so far with 2 wins we were lucky to get, its hard to be too hopeful about whats coming on Saturday. Unless someone can lock MJ Tierney in the dressing rooms I dont think we have defenders to cope. Well we do but they are either not on the panel or injured.

The forwards don't seem to play with any cohesion that successful teams have, it seems like they are playing as individuals rather than as a unit. That maybe because of the positional  musical chairs being played this time of year I dont know.

I dont want to be too dispairing as I expect things to improve come summer time but the signs aren't good.

Hardy

I should be posting but I can't think of anything to say.

It's only the league, but it's hard to see any sense of direction, development of a tactical plan, selection policy ... anything.

Who cares? It doesn't even feature on the radar this weekend, in contrast with top clashes such as the Dubs and Cork, Armagh and Down.

I have a feeling Armagh will be shying away from the spotlight after that game Tony. How'd ye expect to beat Down if ye can't beat a Meath team that aren't even trying.

Your right Hardy, I wrote my original post after reading Hoganstand and was feeling a bit depressed. While the boys on Hoganstand are ready to throw themselves out of high windows over the teams performance, I think our current league form is not much different to last years, come summer time things should be different. We just need a full back and a bit more cohesive play than last year.

Meath (SF v Laois):

Quote
P O'Rourke;

C O'Connor, N McKeigue, E Harrington;
M Burke, C McGuinness, A Moyles;

N Crawford, M Ward;

S Kenny, J Sheridan, O Lewis;
C Ward, J Queeney, S Bray.

Niall McKeigue at full back, I suppose we'll see how that goes. Good to see McGuinness back.
