Sickening attack on ambulance worker

Heard about this on the radio this morning. Hard to believe that there are people that would do things like this, but as somebody stated earlier if the sc**bag who done this is caught and brought to court he'll get off with it with a supended sentence or community service.

I like the people from Derry city but there is an awful lot of nutters about it.

I think he is saying you are a sick asshole. I may be wrong but that's my interpretation of it.

I was immediately thinking Derry city when I saw the thread title.  There seems to be more attacks on fire brigade/ambulance workers there than anywhere else for whatever reason.

Me too. I knew it was Derry before I even opened the thread. Mustn't be able
to handle their liquor in Derry.

Stayed in Derry for a few nights last year and never felt under threat around the city center but suppose there are dirt bags everywhere these days. What I don't understand is what the motivation for these attacks is. I can understand why people might attack the cops as they are the ones that enforce law and order (or abuse it) but ambulance people surely help victims no matter what race or creed. It is shameful behaviour.

"Sickening" is a rather appropriate word to describe attacks on amublance workers, or indeed attacks on any one working in the Health Sector, but what other word(s) would adequately describe attacks on members of other professions?

For example, would an attack on a restaurant worker  be "stomach churning", an attack on a member of the church be "unholy", an attack on a cleaner be "filthy",an attack on a sports person be "foul", an attack on an ugly person be "gruesome" etc etc. Any other ideas?

On a more serious note, disgusting as this attack is, is it any more disgusting than the regular attacks on firemen, ambulances, and even bus drivers etc, which happen all the time in certain areas of Belfast?

It most certainly is not a problem confined to Derry.
