Ned Kelly. His father was Irish.

ned kelly was related to me.my aunt traced us back as far as him.

That's cool.

I tried researching my family history. No-one famous popped up.

I used to live with a fella for Donegal in my college days and his family traced their family tree. They're related to Hugh Roe Ó Donnell.

Sorry to go off topic but just when u mention it, whats the best way to research ones family tree and is it expensive?

The Mormons are the best researchers of ancestry in the world bar none, you could contact them via the web.

First thing I did was chat to parents, uncles, aunts and grandparents about who all they remember. Consulted the Irish Cenus 1901. Plus spoke to my friend's mother. She is big into all that stuff.

I haven't looked into it in any big detail yet, but I've been told I'd need to clear at least three weeks of my schedule and devote my entire time to it, to get it started.

I'll try and post what websites she recommended looking at during the week.

Thanks to the Die Hards Republicans and the Irish Free State Army its a little harder than it should be. Had the Anti-treaty forces not booby-trapped the records office and had the Irish Army not attempted to take that office, finding out where we came from would be a whole lot easier.

It shows how easy it easy it is to lose such important historical data, it seems when St.Mels burned down more of our historical record where lost.
Time to take a more chill-pill approach to life.
