QuoteThe GAA are currently holding talks with a pub chain in the Britain to broadcast live GAA games following the collapse of Setanta Sports.

[1]Supporters of the GAA in England, Scotland and Wales have been left without live matches since the UK Setanta operation went into administration three weeks ago.

But the Association remains hopeful of getting games back on screens in Britain, having met with an unnamed licensee last week where plans to air live games again was discussed.

'[2]We have been in talks with a pub chain in Britain. But we are not any further down the line than that and we're not in a position to comment on the issue any further right now,' Croke Park's Commercial and Marketing Manager Dermot Power said.

[1] Yeah, sure we have, its awful  ;)

[2] Must be O'Neills Pubs. I f**king hate them but I suppose it would be good to see something genuinely Irish in them for once

See above! They don't have the rights to broadcast it anymore since setanta stopped. How are they supposed to show it?

Hence the possible talks...

Did they ever show a GAA match in an O'Neills? Not in one I've ever been in.

Setanta going under didn't stop the genuine Irish pubs from showing last weeks games.

they have always showed them in the oneills in glasgow before setanta went down
the difference between success and failure is energy

O'Neills in Leicester Square always showed the matches (although on rare occassions if it was a major soccer match and say a late May USFC preliminary round game on at the same time you may have to ask for the Gaelic to go onto one of the screens

I think it has more to do with the type of people that live in Clapham (i.e. mainly Aussies and English) than anything. O'Neill's is a listed UK company (part of M&B's I think)suffering a tough time recently. Not surprising that it does what pulls in the most customers.
