Devolved government in NI resolved.  DUP and SF have sorted the differences out that threatened the NI government.

Phew.

Praise the lord, now we can get back to the issues that matter, like should the bog roll be green or orange in Stormont.

its been like this since the IRA ceasefire and will remain on/off etc etc until the reunification takes place.
that way no huge decisions are made and anything of importance is fudged until it goes away (or something more urgent takes its place and the latter is forgotten).
By continually fudging, no path is gone down, which pleases the unionists and keeping the status quo pleases the replublicans - as there is less concessions or change to be made to any progression they could have been performing between 1994 and now (and the time of reunification).
Change would bring too much hassle for these politicians.

Some people said the same about Obama getting the Democratic Nomination and now he is set to become the first black President of the US.

How many times in the past 15 years have you heard a politician say : "This is truly an historic day for Northern Ireland. "

How can you take them seriously anymore ?

Thats different Ziggy, lots of people voted Obama as a protest against Bush, they voted for change as much for change sake. I dont think the Unionists will make the same leap.

Some "Unionist" I know are/have changed their views. Naturally I'm sure the same could be said on the "Nationalist/Republican" side too.

How many bloody threads do we have which are dragged down to the horrible depths of tribal US politics? What makes it worse is that there are two threads on this going the same direction. Can we not have a decent NI Green and Orange thread without ye lot ruining it with your Republican and Democrat politics of hate and racisim?
