Do compromise rules performances have impact on the all stars

You know subliminally they probably do help push a player creep over the line. Exposure, profile and your teams success is the name of the game for an All Star award.

An All star is great to win if you have had a breakthrough year be it Provincial or All Ireland. But for the rest they can just add to the lingering of a bad year otherwise.

I would have give one to Seamus O`Shea over the brother

Yes but this thread is about All-Stars.

No Mayo forwards awarded Allstars. Any sign of any new talent coming in for 2014?  What was it Jinxy said - "a give me the f*cking ball" type  forward who can take the game by the scruff of the neck.

Delighted for the two Monaghan lads, no more than they deserved. Great year for the county..

Agree. Good to see. I picked McManus back in Sept. And fair dues to anybody who gets an award. I know this will be thrown back at me but 2 All Stars is a good return from a 1/4 final run.

From a Mayo persrective, there is a view out here that we have been pissed on since the 90s - but its not the substantive issue for us. However the reality is that individual players have suffered in the All Stars circus because the team lost AI finals and the county got the choker label.

Mayo

2004 AI final - 2 All Stars
2005 AI quarter 0 All Stars - Cork got whacked in semi that year and got no Star either.
2006 AI final- 2 All Stars
2011 AI semi 1 All Star

Guess that's the way it goes.

Mayo got 5 in 2006. AIFAlso got 5 in 1989. AIF

Mayo got 4 in 2013. AIF

Did ok those years though.

Mayo got only 2 in 06 in spite of getting to final.

Did he mean 1996 when Mayo got five? Cork reached 2007 All Ireland final and only got one All-star.

1997 Mayo only got 2 for sure.

I think this notion of awarding 10+  All Stars to the AI finalists is relatively recent.

The same amount as Meath and Kildare who won nothing that year, except bate the living daylights out of each other in 3 and a bit games. Same for Dublin in 1991. It's all about exposure!

some set up around, oh well we always wanted to keep a amateur status as a organization, might as well act like one

Only someone with a heart of stone would begrudge the Lilies an allstar.
God love them, they never win anything.

Jesus Christ. You'd get better organisation at the Club Dinner Dance.

At least you'd get dinner-spoke to a number of nominees and they were genuinely starving-probably organised by a twiggy who would hardly finish a second lettuce leaf.
