i have a mate who's unemployed at the moment in the north. last week the dole sent for him for an interview hes a mechanic when he arrived to his surprise they offered him work in new zealand :o. now I'm not sure exactly how the dole works but is this not a 'job offer'? and if now as he has already refused the offer can they now stop his money? what way does the dole work? thankfully i don't know but is this normal to be offered work abroad?
BTW the wages were 68000 new zealand money / year plus free board. is this good money for new zealand?

PS he turned down the work because his parents are aged and need him around

For the love of God go.

His parents will die that is nature. He is a mechanic not a nurse maid I would be gone in a shot if I got an offer like that. I doubt they would take away his dole if he didn't accept deportation to New Zealand.

£35k or so. I'd be away in the morning if I was him but the ties that bind are strong so I can see why he is torn.
