Prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu insists that there will be no Palestinian state. In his "super Sparta" speech of September 16th, Netanyahu tried to sell Israelis a premonition of a semi-autarkic state that will live by the sword, in economic decline and in isolation from the world.

In ancient times, a few hundred Spartans fought the much more powerful Persian army. "The problem is that Sparta was annihilated," columnist Ben Caspit wrote in Maariv newspaper.
He very quickly backtracked. Fella is a lawyer and rarely speaks in public. Looks like Trump and the markets are the only two things that he listens to.

Who listens to Trump?

Do you genuinely believe Netanyahu listens to Trump?

Mossad and Netanyahu has Trump by the short and curlies as well as loads of other US "law makers".

The attack on Qatar only but proved it to anyone in doubt.

Let me rephrase. If Trump decides to reign Israel in, they will fall in line. In fact I suspect they might like that as it gives Binny an out of a situation he can't get out of himself.

The Emperors have no foreskins. The youth thankfully have cottoned on to this unlike dumb old people clinging to WW2 nonsense.

The future is exciting though very bloody

Israel could end up friendless in an era of brutal wars, nuclear proliferation, faded memories of the Holocaust, cheap drone terrorism by groups like Yemen's Houthis, but without any "international community" to broker peace deals. Apartheid South Africa eventually collapsed. Meanwhile, hatred of Israel is fuelling antisemitism against diaspora Jews. Israel could become the next Iran: guided by religion, poorer, sanctioned, threatened and alone

Prior to his departure from Tel Aviv early Thursday morning, Netanyahu hit out at leaders who recognised a Palestinian state, saying he would use his UN address to "denounce those leaders", who he has accused of rewarding Hamas by giving them "a state in the heart of the Land of Israel. This will not happen."

I presume this is a cut and paste from the FT, but even in the language used it's clear the author is sympathetic to Israel, Yemeni's are terrorists, anyone who hates Israel is antisemitic, very poor but not entirely unexpected.

It's OK to be sympathetic to Israel and see where Israel is headed. Israel is majority religious and won't tolerate a Palestinian state. Something must give.

With the collapse of Apartheid South Africa, bar the obvious, is South Africa a better country now or will it also take 100's of years to rectify itself from the Apartheid regime

Well it can't be any worse for the black majority, can it?

Hate to think you're going down the old colonialist mindset about the colonisers bringing "civilisation" with them and the natives being better off!

I'm not, and that's why I said bar the obvious. The problem South Africa finds itself in is completely down to Apartheid, I'm only asking, is it a better place? Its a tinder box if you ask me
