It was more improved from what I've seen in the league games. Too many times teams cut through us for chances on goals but the back line was extremely solid yesterday.

Its very early doors but its a good starting base going forward.

Rossa and Loughgiel will be a decent match but id expect Loughgiel to win it.

They might but I wouldn't put the house on it
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

Rossa should've won the game on saturday night

Quote from: NAG1 on August 11, 2025, 12:15:14 PMDon't think we learned too much that we didnt know already from that first round of games.

Definitely thought Rossa were unlucky with a few of the calls in their game, didnt seem like big calls at the time but they definitely turned out that way.

Referee was shocking against Cushendall in the 2nd half. Quite worrying because the rossa management made a B line for him at half time and had a lengthy conversation with them before cushendall returned to the pitch for the 2nd half

Na Glinntí Glasa

I don't think that had any bearing whatsoever on the result. He give frees to both teams that was questionable at times. If a ref gave a foul every time a sideline or supporter cried for it the game would be constant stoppages

Cushendall would of won that game still had it been 15v15. They are a quality team and are moving along at the right pace for the group games.

Just while we talking about referees ,was at a few of the games over the last few weeks , the referee in the under 21 final was out of his depth I thought . As for the senior championship some of the decisions where terrible , went to cushendall game and a few bad calls in it , as for the Dunloy game , ballycastle got a free after 2 and half mins and that was there last free till the 31st minute in the half , Kevin parke I thought was absolutely atrocious in that game . As he has been in a few games I've seen . Just a thought why is it referees from clubs that's from clubs in same groups , example ray matthews in Loughgiel v Carey and Kevin parke Dunloy v ballycastle surely it would be better if referees from other groups would be refereeing them games ?? Just a thought .

Na Glinntí Glasa

I didnt think Kevin did anything wrong in the game.

Ballycastle were getting frustrated at how poor they were playing and constantly committed fouls. The fouls we conceded were all spot on and no complaints.

If anything Kevin was doing Ballycastle a favour because he could of booked a few lads but he choose not to. The corner back got a yellow for a while swing at Kevin Molloy and then committed a foul about two mins later. Another ref could of lost patience with him and gave a second yellow but he didnt and let him finish out the game.

Kevin had zero bearing on the end result. Dunloy were much better and won the game.

Similar to the Loughgiel v Carey game. Ray had no bearing on the end result.

When you look to refs to blame you missing the glaringly obvious failings of the losing team.

I agree about that ballycastle player being lucky he wasn't sent off for that pull near the end , but really he gave 1 score able free for ballycastle in 31 mins of hurling . And I can remember the number 14 being fouled at least 3/4 times in the first half and he gave nothing to them . I didn't say the referees had bearings on the results , I just found it strange that officials from other teams in same group can really be asked to referee them that's all . I see the dunsilly pitch 1 has a couple of the hurling games next Friday and Saturday and ballycastle v St John's game is on Dunloy on the Sunday .

Na Glinntí Glasa

if im honest i thought he could of booked more players for the constant fouling and he didnt give fouls which i felt he should of give. I think we are all never happy, we want fouls blown but also the game to be played freely  ;D

Heard the other night that we got St Johns v Ballycastle. Big game for both sides so im expecting this one to be well worth watching.

Ourselves v St Endas on the Friday night at Dunsilly. A hatefull place to go to a game at but it was always going to be held there.

Rossa v Loughgiel in Dunsilly on the Saturday at 6pm

Been there for some time JC. He went to help them from the early part of the league season. Im not sure if hes invovled in management or just a coaching role.
