I would argue this impacts on clubs developing their games also. If you play for Rossa, St Paul's or St John's you are limited to one pitch with no lights. They all make use of pitches elsewhere for training and games but it removes the community element to the club when a 12 year old may never play or train on the home ground. And if they aren't big club people that child may never visit the club home ground.

City clubs are hindered by space more that some in the country but across there is a distinct lack of facilities in comparison to other counties.
Do we have any pitches outside of PG & All Saints suitable for hurling under lights?

Is is something that the county need to have a real strategic look towards??

Tír na nÓg have lights and Ahoghill have lights as well.

Either would have been a more sensible venue for those teams.

But I suppose both are hosting their own championship games over the weekend and maybe didn't want to give up the pitch and organisation.

Having lights doesn't mean they're fit to host hurling matches. Some of the pitches, the lights wouldn't be strong enough to host a Championship hurling match.

Although those two pitches are suitable and are both hosting intermediate hurling matches this weekend.

Saffrongael

Yeah you also have to get the hosting club to agree, I know of more than one that couldn't/wouldnt.
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

imtommygunn

Sounds like a bad injury for young mccloskey  :(

Big win for loughgiel. Rasharkin beating sarsfields in the intermediate seems like a surprise result.

That cub has been destroyed by injuries and him a class act.

Tony Baloney

Jaw broken in 3 pkwces according to Saffrongael report. Was it a dirty shot or accidental? The report said a penalty was awarded.

Saffrongael

Thought Rossa were very competitive against Cushendall.

When they went down to 14 men just before half time you just assume Cushendall, with a strong wind in the second half, would win easily.

We strongly encourage supporters to purchase tickets online beforehand—in doing so, you not only save money but also help relieve the administrative workload on our dedicated club volunteers. While cash and card payments will still be accepted at the gate, please note that payment at the gate on match day will cost £7.

You should have handed them £7 and walked on
