Derry statement

QuoteFollowing Thursday night's meeting of Coiste Chontae Dhoire, Derry GAA is pleased to announce the appointment of Ciaran Meenagh as senior football manager.

Ciaran Meenagh first joined the Derry senior football management team in late 2018 and served for five seasons as a coach and later as manager – a period that included promotion from Division Four to Division One and back-to-back Ulster Senior Football titles.

He will lead a management team that includes former Derry captain and All-Star footballer Chrissy McKaigue.

We wish all management teams and their playing panel every success for the 2026 season.

Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Go and take your head for a good wobble. Tyrone boys losing their shite because of a Derry manager. Let me make this clear for you NO ONE IN DERRY GIVES A f**k WHAT ANYONE ELSE THINKS.Least of all tubes like you. We clearly live rent free in a your head.

Ciaran is a great fella. This is a good re-appointment and Ciaran obviously felt the time was right to come back. He has taught in Derry for years. Knows a lot about Derry football and has been around the Derry setup for a long time before his break. Good to have you back Ciaran.
You really sound like you don't care what anyone else thinks  :D  :D

I don't. I'm just making sure a jumped up wee shite like yourself understands that. I know it's not the first time you have been told that but then again you don't come across as the sharpest knife Mel. All the best 👍

Players weren't getting Rory back so they got back the next best thing the coach who was involved with Rory and who already had a short spell as manager. The quicker appointment this time shows that is one area they haven't repeated things.

Meenagh was the only appointment that made sense. Gallagher is a non runner. Meenagh did well in 2023. The players will play for him. He is tactically astute and the vast majority of Derry fans will welcome this appointment.

Tyrone managers for 4 All Irelands and this year's All Ireland U17 and U20. Derry without a win in 2025 talks of embarrassing.
 Try harder  :D
