Best wishes to Kieran and a huge thanks for everything he has done, a class act and a gent. We'll feel that loss for sure.

His term is up and the talk seems to be he's finishing up but if they win I could see him staying on a year or two more. If they lose I'd say he's gone for definite.

I'd say Donaghy is likely to be more involved as coach as opposed to manager - always struck me that he had that much more interest in a coach compared to a manager role whenever I heard him speak.

You'd imagine it would either be as a coach with Kerry or as manager of a lower level county.

QuoteCiaran Meenagh likely to be appointed as Derry manager later this week

Ciaran Meenagh is likely to be appointed as Derry manager later this week, with former Allstar defender Chrissy McKaigue coming in alongside him.
Loughmacrory native Meenagh coached Derry for five years, first under Damian McErlain in 2019 and then for three years under Rory Gallagher between 2020 and 2023.
A schoolteacher in Ballinascreen, the former Tyrone defender took over as manager the week of the Ulster final in 2023 following domestic abuse allegations being made against Gallagher.

Derry went on to beat Armagh in a penalty shootout to secure back-to-back Ulster titles, after which they came within a whisker of reaching the All-Ireland final. They had Kerry on the ropes with five minutes to play but got overtaken on the home straight in a two-point defeat.
After months of speculation that followed, Meenagh pulled out of potentially taking over as manager and instead joined up with Down, where he played a huge part in their growth under Conor Laverty in the last two years.
Down won the Tailteann Cup last year and entered this year's Sam Maguire round robin stage as rank underdogs, but overcame Leinster champions Louth and beaten Munster finalists Clare before losing to Monaghan at the Athletic Grounds and an epic preliminary quarter-final against Galway at Páirc Esler.

Meenagh would head the ticket as manager with McKaigue in a coaching capacity.
The Slaughtneil man and former Sydney Swan retired from inter-county football at the end of last season.
McKaigue previously coached alongside Meenagh at the latter's native Loughmacrory in 2022, before McKaigue moved on and worked with Ardboe in the last couple of seasons.
As the school's GAA co-ordinator, he also helped guide an unfancied St Patrick's Maghera all the way to MacRory and Hogan Cup glory earlier this year.
It's understood that the ticket will be presented to clubs later this week for ratification.

Elsewhere, another former Derry star, Paddy Bradley, has emerged as favourite for the vacant Antrim job.
Paul McFlynn, who was part of the Derry backroom team under both Harte and Tally, could be part of a potential Saffron setup.

Across two stints, Bradley's father Liam managed Antrim to an Ulster final appearance in 2009 and guided them to Division Two of the National League.

Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Gavin Devlin to Louth on 3 year term.

No word from Galway if Joyce is staying on or not. Its better to let it be known instead of dragging on until September or October with club championship at a end.

Louth statement.  Very quick to appoint a replacement for Ger Brennan.

Good appointment it would have to be said. Will he still have his youth development role with them?

Derry a parody at this stage. Ciaran Meenagh appointment confirmed. Definition of insanity: repeating the same behaviour and expectating different results. Is there no-one in Derry capable of managing the county team? Tír Eoghain abú!

Go and take your head for a good wobble. Tyrone boys losing their shite because of a Derry manager. Let me make this clear for you NO ONE IN DERRY GIVES A f**k WHAT ANYONE ELSE THINKS.Least of all tubes like you. We clearly live rent free in a your head.

Ciaran is a great fella. This is a good re-appointment and Ciaran obviously felt the time was right to come back. He has taught in Derry for years. Knows a lot about Derry football and has been around the Derry setup for a long time before his break. Good to have you back Ciaran.

Like we were afraid of Harte and Tally. This Derry opportunity sailed with Rory's departure. Yous were so close...  8)
