Have the county board started the hunt for a new manager?

It is early to be looking but im sure they would want to give the manager a chance to watch the club championship.

Take the Mark

The county board won't be looking for a new manager according to Bannside, its the treasurer from a couple of years ago who is leading that recruitment.

the poster here 'Ghost + Tommy' might be able to inform us more  ;D

Poor form from Ahoghill if true.

Surely they would have had a chance against the other teams in the bottom 4.  And also wouldn't rule them out in their Championship group.

However were they to finish last there you could have a team from group 3, say Ballymena who had a very strong league, finishing bottom of a tough group and straight into a relegation final.

Maybe the way forward is to have no relegation from league and let it be decided from championship where teams should be going at it closer to full strength.

Spike

the quality at the bottom of the league is bad enough without taking away the threat of relegation.

Scrap these play offs.   Bottom placed goes down, top of the league the winner.

ideally id like to see the league reduced down to 10 or 12 at a push.  At no stage in a proper Div 1 Senior county league should anyone be getting beaten by 44 points.  The fact that it happened along with other hammerings should have began a review of the structures.

Don't disagree but previous comment based on structures as they are.

My preference :

Div 1a 8 teams
Div 1b 8 teams

That wouldn't be far away.

8 team senior championship
8 team intermediate championship
Div 2 Junior championship
Junior B championship for Div 3

Could go 10/10 for league and championships also, and still be along same lines, but would be a split rather than 2 way league to avoid overload of league fixtures.

Again wouldn't be far away and would put us in a better place for Ulster, below senior, as well.

But too many wouldn't like being labelled Intermediate or Junior even if it would make for far better competitions as well as competitiveness beyond Antrim.

However many teams is decided, league and Championship should not be aligned. There are teams that struggle in the league year on year. Those teams should be able to go down and play div 2 league football and maintain senior status when they have their full panel available to them.

Notices have been sent you all clubs offering them the opportunity to nominate a new county manager.
Nominations need to be forwarded by your club secretary before midnight on Friday 18thJuly.

Now is the chance to be proactive folks.

Has Paddy Tally left Derry to take the Antrim job!

The "county" is not looking for anyone.

The "county" has allocated this task to the clubs (its members) to give everyone a chance of recommending a suitable candidate for the position.

That I imagine includes most on here.

The "county" has not currently designated this role to anyone, including previous treasurers.

Now is the time for you or your club to be proactive, until next Friday when that shuts down.

In the usual absence of any club activity at all, it is likely a few people will be tasked with going out and having conversations.

Ps, the county is your county, not someone elses.
