There was always a decent chance they'd go back down again this season but I've said before here they'll go straight back up to Division 2 and then to Division 1 not long after with all those good players they have coming through.

If their management go it is probably one of the most inviting jobs in the county you would imagine.

Usually when a team gets relegated the management will go but in Cookstown's case I think they should stick with their current management team as I think those guys would be good at bringing that current Minor team through. Cookstown were dealt a bad hand in that Aghaloo had played 4 competitive games since Cookstown last played on 21st September including 2 games to get over the Junior Final disappointment.
It's a serious disadvantage and could their playoff game v Clogher not have waited until last week?
It's the same issue the Clarkes/Carmen are  going to face.
If Errigal make the Ulster Final which is on weekend of 7/8th December and County Board insist on 2 week break until their League semi v Carmen then Division 1 League Final won't be until 28/29th December.

Quote from: Easttyrone23 on November 10, 2024, 09:12:16 AMGalbally had a great year resulting in our highest ever league position as well as winning our local derby's vs Donaghmore, Pomeroy and Carrickmore. But the most satisfying result for our players was relegating Coalisland.
There was never any hatred towards Coalisland but their behaviour when they went to Pearse park last season was brutal. As soon as Galbally went 9 or 10 points clear they started throwing fists, caused a serious injury to Fergal mcgarrity and many of their fans threatening both players and fans.

There is no club perfect in Tyrone, but there is a few clubs around the Coalisland area that turn to thuggery when losing a game. Looks like all of them will be playing intermediate next year, the clubs in the Dungannon area are flying the flag for east Tyrone in senior football.

I know they are contenders for the 2030 All Ireland Club Championship, but Brocagh thirds would beat Donaghmore.

Carmen & the Clarkes should concede the league to force a rule change for next year. Top wins it. It's a joke.

I know we joke about Errigal & Ulster a lot but they are serious contenders...

It's Cookstown.

A bit like Donaghmore.

Neither club is going anywhere.

The wife is a native Galbally woman and I was at the game last year as a neutral.

McGarrity's injury occurred from a bad turn tackling the ball and not from "Thuggery". Not sure what game you were watching on the day.
As for the fists theres not too many clubs in Tyrone can lay claim to be perfect and certainly not the men from Galbally.

The slander in this group is horrible at times.

Moortown had great underage coming with Minor Grade 1 Doubles and that hasn't translated to them becoming an established Senior team. All depends on how Cookstown handle and manage those players coming through.

It's Cookstown. Most of them won't be playing in about 2 years. Be down the road playing soccer or sitting in a pub

Going by how they are currently translating good youth players to Senior footballers I would say it is more likely Fintona make the jump to Senior more so than Cookstown.

Wasn't there a row about who should take this group after minor and PD fell out/walked away and that minor team basically split up with some giving up?

Pretty sure Paul Devlin's sons transferred from Moortown to Ardboe after this row..
