They've been saying this for years. Hasn't really come close yet, although Beto O'Rourke ran Ted Cruz fairly close last time out in their Senate race. However, Greg Abbott, while the races have got progressively tighter over the years, still beat O'Rourke by 11 points in the 2022 governor election.

Surprisingly though, according to Pew Research, Dem and GOP membership is about the same in Texas (about 40% of registered voters each).

I guess most of the independents lean right.

Even if it's a toss-up it'll work in favour of the Democrats, since Rethuglicans will now have to divert resources from other swing states to shore up Texas. They'll try to delay the inevitable with all sorts of voting restrictions, gerrymandering, and other shady shenanigans, but it'll only get them so far and they can't hold out forever.

When Texas flips blue it'll flip hard. The Democrats will repair the damage that Repubs did to the democratic process, they'll make it easier to vote, and after that it'll be another California with the Repubs banished to the wilderness for a generation. The Electoral College's days will be numbered at that point.

Ah, in fairness, I'm not all that invested in the US election. Trump is an oaf, and Harris is pretty horrendous to my eyes. They actually used to say they same around here - that Eastern Europeans were killing and eating the ducks and the swans. They probably were. And it's not as if I've never killed and eaten a duck. Dogs is a bit much, though... But, like - it's not THAT outlandish. It could easily be true. Some people dismiss anything Trump says, just because he said it, without trying to see if there's a grain of truth to it. I'm pretty sure Harris was exaggerating when she said about the policemen that had been killed on the 6th Jan.
