GAA Discussion / Re: Fermanagh

Dear jarlath...
Knowing that jarlath is an avid reader of this board I hope he reads this....
What is there to review?
1. Manager appointed by chairman whose club nominated JON.
2. JON never managed a club team
3. Players gave it a go until the spring
4. 11 Players realised manager was not upto it and took severe action.
5. Fermanagh got beat by Poor teams in division 4.
6. Annihilation in Celtic park.
7. Humiliation in ruislip
8. Humiliation in ruislip
9. Yes humiliation in ruislip!
10. It won't get better under JON.

How could the review be in favour of keeping te manager???

Anybody else got any views?

Absolutely agree with this thread name! Disastrous from last november, ignored seasoned players, dropped good players, didn't listen to players concerns, picked the wrong panel- then again what would you expect from someone who never managed a senior club team. Fermangh are once again a laughing stock. Time for change!

The more I sit and think about Fermanagh the angrier I get! Would the manager of any other county that was beat by London not just resign with immediate effect!

Please god someone will take the big step and tell him to just go quietly

Your correct fermpundit- hard to see him resigning as he doesn't come across as someone who knows his place. Can't remember the co board ever sacking anybody, it's normally upto the manager. Sad sad day to be a Fermanagh man. We know we are far from world beaters but surely we are better than what ONeill has turned us into? As of now we are the worst intercounty teamm in Ireland as Kilkenny don't compete in the championship. God even after losing to Armagh in the championship last year, I never thought we could become this bad. 2008 seems like so long ago, yet believe it or not there are atleast 10 players from that team still playing club football but were not involved in co football this year.

I hope to God the manager has the decency to walk away and let us re build with all our best players.

Yes seriously never managed club team. Took minors and u21,s in early 00's with no success. It's not for me to say how he got the job. Most people with their ear to the ground in Fermanagh know why he got it. Put it this way - he was nominated for the job by the co chairmans club!

Feel sorry for the players and supporters.

GAA Discussion / John O Neill must go

To all Fermanagh posters and others with an interest in ulster gaa. Is there anyway the manager can remain in post. He never managed a club team, got rid of seasoned players, other players left due to inadequate management. Is there anyway he can remain in the post after today's embarrassment?

Manager must go. John o Neill has made excuse after excuse since taking the job. It's time people listened to the players that walked away this year. Disgrace.

I think st galls are no different than any other club in a city, the only difference is they are successful. If you look at the other two clubs in Belfast that attract outsiders I'd say st galls have the least amount of imports. St.brigids for example currently has atleast 3 players from my county playing with their senior team. Breadagh have always attracted outsiders and have had a few players from my own county too. St. Brigids and bredagh are intact famous for having well known outsiders such as brolly, the blaneys, jody gormley, paddy heany, Thomas Niblock. So I think peOple should look at the facts and the online intercounty transfer lists before making assumptions.

St.johns also attracted our most famous player in Peter mc Ginnity! In years gone by.

Fermanagh v London - hard to believe this is a 50-50 match.

I suppose the way things have went this year a defeat wouldn't be a total surprise. What does everybody think. Things have been really quiet on this site, hoganstand seems more popular with Fermanagh folk.

I am appealing to all Fermanagh users on this board to make their feelings on the senior team known.

My own feelings are that the management team should step down at the end of the year. He should have never been appointed as the manager in the first place. He didn't have the expetise required for a senior job in my opinion. I  feel we need our best players playing. Having spoken to /met the players in question, especially the sherrys, tommy and Niall bogue over the last few years they are civil fellas and it would have taken alot for them to quit.

Come on and discuss OUR county!

Hi all Fermanagh Gaels. Terrible goings on at the minute.  Better give you all my take on things.

I wasn't in favour of JONs appointment from the outset. Nothing has happened to change my mind. If the likes of peter and James sherry, Niall bogue and Tommy Mc elroy are walking out and giving their reasons then I know for sure there is something badly wrong. They are all good Fermanagh men who always give their best.

I hope that JON has the sense to put Fermanagh first at the end of the year and quit. We need all our best players out to have any chance, nobody can deny that.

Anybody else agree or disagree? Anyone I talk to is thinking along the same lines.
