Fair play Errigal. Thought they were fairly disciplined throughout and, yes, a good few decisions didn't go their way but that happens sometimes and they didn't let it knock their focus. Radio Kerry were anticipating a UFC team coming down from the North. I love those guys.

There are people in the North who have been involved in planning and executing hundreds of murders in my area who have been 'proven' innocent in court. It's a serious issue and needs to be addressed. Same with Kyle Hayes and I'm sure others. They should not be in the position of role models.  Young people need to uderstand that there is a consequence to their actions even if the get off with the charge. GAA have an opportunity to be clear on what they expect from their role models. They are the face of the GAA. Don't talk to me about courts.

Why is being good at football or hurling make you a role model? If we got rid of every player who wasn't fit to be a role model we'd have plenty of clubs failing to field. It's really getting silly now.
That's a ridiculous comment. Fairly standard stuff that Managers of any team should be a role model. Or a county player. If that's not the goal what are we at? Don't underestimate the influence that these people have over young people.

I think he Burns has prevented a storm here. That's why it's different to other GAA members who have been in court or charged. I do expect consistency regarding the latest Armagh scandal but I'd say no one can comment at the minute as it's a live case, maybe?

The fact is that RG continuing to manage is a bad look for the GAA who are trying to support women more within the organisation.
If we change the lens to not assuming that the allegations are false, then he can't just walk back into a position of responsibility as, whether he likes it or not, he is high profile now.
I don't think anyone should be talking about the mental state of the accuser without knowing the mental state of the accused. It's a very one sided way of looking at it and taints our opinion of whether the allegations are true or not
The fact that RG doesn't back away from coaching does suggest a lack of grip on reality and disregard for clubs that he is managing and people who are genuinely upset by the whole sorry state. Jaysus, read the room, take up something else.

Mickey should leave these bunch of whingers. Brought them the first bit of meaningful Silverware in a long time in the first season. Derry have had inherent problems holding them back this past few years. Marauding keeper and defence too high. He's not going to change that overnight. Other teams are doing it and getting it right but it's right on the edge. Close the gate coming back over the Balinderry Bridge Mickey.

Best game of football I've seen in years. Fair play to both teams. Jarlath Burns' victory speech also went into extra time!  ;D

I made my way down to Kerry from Clare yesterday with my 8 year old daughter for what was a mostly enjoyable day. Nice weather, the Kerry scenery beautiful as always. The game wasn't too bad either bar the Tyrone wides and ref a little whistle happy at times for both teams. Doesn't feel like a bad defeat for Tyrone. A few defensive tweaks in the second half and we were back in it but it was too little, too late. During melee, I was disappointed to hear"shower of kna**ers, always were, always will be"from the row behind me. Middle aged, well dressed man from Kerry with small kids. Not nice to hear and disappointing for all within earshot, Kerry and Tyrone fans alike. I know there's always one but it felt very personal. Could do without it.

The tradition of playing All Ireland Minor finals before senior finals replaced by a bit of music.  The Stunning today in front of empty Croke Park.

I'd like to see the ladies final on the same day. This ear would  have been ideal if they had lined it up.

No - Ladies Finals Day is Ladies Finals Day. Senior, Intermediate and Junior. It's the day to celebrate Ladies Football and does not need to be diluted by the Mens game.
Would be interesting to get a take on it from a female intercounty player. I was at ladies final day a few years back and found it too long with the 3 matches. Could do senior with the men's. Those finals are usually cracking games too. I'd like to see it if there was an appetite from the ladies themselves.

There is a transient audience on Ladies All Ireland Finals day. Fans are coming and going.  You take away the Senior Final and the other Finals fall on their face and there is no Intermediate or Junior Finals in Croke Park.
Good point.Could maybe backfill with minors or tailteann final. Probably never happen but I like the idea of it.

You could say the Clifford shoulder which was a turnover ball for Kerry but was a mistaken free for Derry was a momentum changer in the first half. Derry should've taken that goal chance, instead of soccer shit he should've picked her up and buried it.
Bit of a difference, in all fairness. O'briens wasn't anywhere near a free whereas Clifford's shoulder was a meaty one and straddles the dangerous play area. Anyway, wides and poor shooting cost Derry. Kerry very, very lucky there.

Joe has been given his orders.

Mc quillan is the  most infuriating referee  I've ever seen .  I'm all for having respect for official s , but by Christ  he makes it so hard  for people to do that.  Those two very soft frees  effectively won Kerry the game . I ain't from Derry but I am absolutely raging . I dunno how Derry folk are feeling

I didn't think either were free kicks and it's amazing how McQuillan is still continuing to get big games at this stage. He must have connections because it's not based on competency. His job is not to make the game a close contest it's to apply the rules.
The o';brien one wasn't a free. He just went so low with his sidestep that he fell
That was a gamechanger. Momentum swung Kerry's was at that moment.  Derry were marginally he better team, just showed a bit of niaivity in front of the posts in the second half, with some excellent blocks and saves by Kerry also. But as someone said already, the big teams get the breaks. Would like to know what mcquillan said to mcguigan before that last kick?

Clubs should be warned/ punished if referees are threatened by players or spectators. But it's about creating a culture by letting people know what the repercussions are first. Code of conduct may as well be toilet paper at the minute.

There needs to be clear parameters set out by the Gaa on how we communicate with referees. There needs to be a channel for parents, supporters to give feedback. Then a synchronised stand down across all clubs to set the boundaries with all members mandatory attendance. Cancel all matches that weekend.
Make sure all clubs, fans are clear on repercussions, with hefty bans for any incidents.
Then stick to the plan.

Channel what now?  Feedback by who? Possibly the single worse idea I've ever seen committed to writing.

Communicate with ref? Isn't that the cause of most of the problems.

Let the ref, referee the game and play your own game/manage the team/support your team.

Absolute batshit crazy.

Nothing to see here, can we all just move on....? Just 36 pages worth in little over a year

Absolutely not. That wasn't a response to what has happened. Far from it. It's to that crazy idea of giving a platform to give feedback to refs.

No one needs that "channel". When you go to game do what you're there for - play, manage or support. Not abuse or give feedback to a ref. How nuts would that be FFS.

Zero tolerance for those abusing the ref.
Jaysus, must have touched a nerve there. The whole reason there is abuse is because it is seen as the only way to get your point across.  This GAA closed shop mentality is at the root of a lot of the problems. Need to be forward thinking, make the public feel like they have an option other than abuse.
There needs to be a correct channel available to air grievances back through your club in a dignified manner. A club rep then has that to feed back to the refs. Improvement and acknowledgement of errors needs to be at the heart of refereeing.
On the flip side, breaches of using the correct channels/abuse, should be severely punished.

It gets better  ;D ;D ;D

Fair play. You've a great imagination.

Has to be a Wind up. Is this one of Ollys burner accounts?
What part of that can't you deal with/are afraid of?
