GAA Discussion / Re: Jimmy McGuinness

I am sick of podcasters, rye pundits, kerry pundits and some posters on here saying McGuinness did the same as Brennan, regardless of a rule, its no where near or as bad as what Brennan did, no where.

Quote from: bennydorano on May 20, 2026, 11:21:00 AMReading the Derry club thread Derry ones seem fairly confident. Not an unreasonable stance either.

Armagh seemed to be able to park the Ulster Final defeats very well and come out very strongly in the AI series after, what will the heads be like after a bit of mid season success?

I'd worry a bit about MF myself,  Crealey's loss will be felt a lot more as this progresses, but we're doing OK there to date.
Think we should be ok around the middle against Derry but I'd be fearful enough against a Kerry/Donegal/Galway with the big brutes they have. At the minute we're doing rightly at the shorts with the bad weather playing a big part on Sunday with the ones we lost. Hopefully we're able to park Ulster again and push on.

This sums it up, Derry have a mobile midfield but not a big enough midfield to trouble the Kerry/Donegals etc. Armagh will have the same problem eventually. Don't see midfield being the game winner in the Derry game. Crealey a huge lost.

Quote from: ck on May 13, 2026, 02:15:59 PMHas Lavey let go of their Management team 4 games in? Anyone know what happened?

Just Barry O'Hagan, the manager Shea Murrin still in post.

Lavey sacked their manager Barry O'Hagan, early doors for that

You would have to assume they aren't fit, Downey was doing well enough and must have picked up a knock, Higgins was labouring with his injury as well. Bradley has had no game time due an early season injury

A quick reminder, if I recall accurately, in the masters last year he was 5 up at the 13th in the final round and blew that lead, so the chances are this isn't over yet by a distance. Even round today and someone hits in the chasing pack hit 5/6 under it's game on at they say

Two points from kicking the ball over the bar outside the 40 metre arc, where you are under physical or potential physical contact or a block, yes I'm all for it. But not under no physical contact and getting time to execute your technique for a 2 pointer free. Think its just unfair. However I realise if frees were not two pointers team would foul alot more to reduce two pointer opportunities  so I settled what was best for the game and accept the two pointer free. But the two point free when the ball has been brought forward fifty metres, then you get to take the ball back outside the arc for a two pointer is just an abomination. I watched a number of club games last year in the cship where the breach was questionable or the ref decides you haven't given the ball quickly enough or the attacking player cons a ref on the tap and go, and the ball then moved 50m and then to put oil on the fire they get the two pointer option ffs, no way.

Quote from: jb77 on April 02, 2026, 09:52:13 PMOisin was definitely good throughout but he wasn't offered a look in with the seniors like some of the others and that's why he withdrew completely.

Hope no one starts with the lack of commitment thing either like after I said JD and McAteer left, you won't have to worry about seeing them in a Derry jersey again.

Did I understand what you have posted correctly, an u20 player withdrew from the u20 panel because he wasn't invited unto the senior panel like some others i.e Eamon Young & Higgins etc??

Watched 'Des' over the weekend. Three episodes of 1983 scottish serial killer Dennis Nilsen with David Tennant starring (have to say he is a v good actor) What a brute, a decent watch.

Congratulations ball hopper. You have been through a difficult time and have bounced back to almost 100%. By reading your post it sounds like you'll get to a complete recovery. Best wishes for the future.

The commentary is from kildare and completely one sided. 🤣 they did some crying about our sideline. Finally that is grt result considering a man down, 4 pts down at HT, then playing into a serious breeze in terrible conditions. That's a team builder. Derry on their way back

well said Lenny, Tohill is a bloody decent player. Swa, being swa chose to shot themselves in the foot with Tohill last season, and not for the first time I might add.
