Not too many posters on here these days, Farr used to keep this page running with his fixtures ansd results updates. As a nod to him, I've posted the 1st round fixtures for the Senior championship starting this weekend:

Crossmolina v Ballintubber

Group 4:

Breaffy v Ballaghaderreen

Well folks, haven't been on here in years - checked my last post and it was just after the 2021 AI final.

Was an unbelievable match and a savage week around the county, the positivity from everyone is something else.

Nice touch to see so many posters remembering Farrandeelin and Lar just after the match, it's a pity that neither lived to see this day.

Hi lads

Haven't been here in ages - I originally signed up to an iptv supplier based on a recommendation from here. If anyone happens to have someone they use, I'd appreciate a PM
Thanks

Well done Tyrone better team won no question.
I thought you tightened up a tiny bit after the second goal and left the door slighty ajar for us but not long after you realised we were stuck in panic mode and drove it home with ease.
We were poor, error strewn on and off the pitch and seemed to be fighting against ourseleves as well as Tyrone to try and get into the game.
The scars from previous final losses I thought were evident today especially after the penalty miss when the harder we were trying the deeper we sank into a hole we couldn't get out of!
The second goal from Tyrone was quality and delivered at the perfect time and for me summed up the composure all Tyrone players showed once they got to the pitch of the game.
I feel for O'Shea as he is the lighting rod for all the annoyance of other counties who are sick of us wasting our chances in finals over and over again. Truth be told his time is likely done with Mayo now.
Horan needs to keep the youth drive going and I think Stephen Coen had quietly a great season for us.
One thing we haven't got right all season is our half forward line, from the very first league game it has been inconsistent in both play and selection.

Lastly to the couple of Dubs posters on here money can move you up a class but you are great example how money can never seem to buy you class.

Good post Crete but unfair, the dubs posters you reference aren't reflective of the real supporters here like hound, the hill is blue, etc. All decent gaa people and dead sound.

We lost today but we'll be back, we know no other way

Jesus lads, I'm sick

Well done to all the Tyronies on here, the better team on the day won. Enjoy it lads

We'll come again as unlikely as that may seem tonight. Maigh Eo abú

Good to luck all travelling today.

Hope it's a good match and a Mayo win

Where would this group stand in Gaaboards estimations

A group of us (7/8) attend both All Irelands every year, we're from Monaghan so never as a competing county  . A good share of us would attend semis/quarters and all our own county fixtures. All involved up to our throats in our own club in management, admin, coaching, refereeing, volunteering. Its not certain yet but I'd hope we will all get this Saturday. none of the tickets through the club as we didn't come out in the club draw but from a network of contacts built up over many years.

This isn't a Billy big bollix "look at me I'm going to the match" post but a reflection of the type of people that go to the final as I'm sure we'll see/meet other groups that we see every year.

Should we be giving it a miss this year?

Answers on a postcard please..................

Ye're a bunch of c*nts. If you're any sort, you'll meet me outside Gills on Saturday and hand over the 7/8 tickets; in return; ye can all have bed & board for the week's celebrations in Mayo!!

Looking forward to this now - my first time seeing Mayo win in Croke Park was in 1989 against Tyrone (no ticket of course, myself & my brother lifted over the turnstile by our father) so I generally have good memories of playing them. Great respect for Tyrone also, they ate Kerry up in the noughties whereas we rolled over for them. It's a 50/50 game and I'm sure both teams & supporters will think they have a huge chance of winning this AI. I hope to f*ck it's us!!

If you look back at the SFs, both teams had the rub of the green they needed to get over the line - if both semis went to a replay, I'd say we'd have a different final pairing. In the games themselves, DOC keeping the ball in and the rebound going straight to a Mayoman; on another day, that ball goes wide or goes to a Dublin player and we probably lose the game; same with the retaken 45, it could easily have worked out that Hennelly scores the 1st one and misses the 2nd one. For Tyrone, 9/10 times SOB checks his run, scores that goal and Kerry probably win; or the rebound from Canavan's (very poor) shot falls to a Kerry player instead of McShane and it's a different game. These are the small little breaks you need to get to win a tight game and I'd say whoever wins on Sunday will have a couple of these fall their way.

I think Tyrone will have a different gameplan for Mayo on Sunday compared to against Kerry; whereas Kerry had a few key individuals, we're more of a team unit (as are Tyrone IMO). I don't think they'll concede the kickouts to us like they did against Kerry although they may not go full press. I'd say the first half will be a cagey affair, both teams will be anxious not to concede goals early on, but it'll open up in the second half.

As regards match ups, I'd put Keegan on Donnelly - Donnelly moving out the field will suit us as Keegan will thrive out the field (@ 10/1 he's my tip for POTY). Mullins on McKenna. Swannie on McCurrry. I'm not sure who we'll put on McShane when he comes on (or if he starts) - I'd rate him as the best forward between the two teams so we need to keep a close watch on him.

It could come down to which goalkeeper is more accurate on the day from frees - both can be top notch or absolute sh*te. Come on ta f*ck Hennelly!!!!

Sad to see Keith retire without the big one but a fine career nonetheless and will go down as one of our all time greats. Good luck in retirement

[I know of one leading Grammar school in Belfast where they'd almost 160 kids and 14 teachers out either from testing positive for Covid or isolating due to being in close contact with someone who'd tested positive in the school environment in the lead up to Christmas.]

Unions definitely the reason the schools are closed in the North. I know the pressure they put on certain MLA's who then in turn basically used it as a political football to attack Weir. Same with the 11+. Interesting those same MLA's never once criticised the schools for using the exam which is the crux of the issue.
There is no plan to even open schools even when infections drop. It would appear schools will remain closed until Covid is completely eradicated. Answers on a postcard when that will be. Meanwhile the gap between the have's and have nots gets larger.

I know of one leading Grammar school in Belfast where they'd almost 160 kids and 14 teachers out either from testing positive for Covid or isolating due to being in close contact with someone who'd tested positive in the school environment in the lead up to Christmas.

If it got any worse they were going to have to close unilaterally due to the lack of teachers but sure schools don't spread it.

How many deaths did we having in the North yesterday, just the 24 was it?

Again, these are outliers and this can happen. When it happens it is correct to close the school. However, the important thing to understand is a "school" didnt spread the covid. It was more likely than not caused by the behaviour of a person or people in that building. People are people in all walks of life they will not follow the rules. Its not a reason to shut the world down though.

And yet everywhere is shut down? This reads like guns don't kill, people do. School is third highest source of spread after home and retail setting. I know of a SNA is school in Dublin in their 40s that died of Covid over Christmas with no previous health issues.

Everywhere is not shut down, open your eyes. Let me take 2 minutes out to help teachers and cos if that is all they need here is the answer....

1- PPE. If government is not providing it (which is seriously doubt). Then each School should ask their board of management to secure it. In turn parents could then be asked to help. I am certain, 100% certain that the parents of kids would happily contribute to the purchase of PPE given that you can get a mask for a cloth mask for a euro or two and a bottle of IPA the same.
2- Definition of Close Contact - Face to Face, indoors, within 1 meter for a combined duration of 15 minutes. In my place of work we went more conservative at 2m, each school could decide based on their own areas
3- Track and Trace is part of the HSE role. In my place of work however we developed our own track and trace where we phone anyone that is off with COVID, ask them had they a close contact and if they had we phone the close contact and tell them not to come in. This is not instead of the HSE, its as well as the HSE.

Takes a bit of work, takes a bit of effort but it can be done. Better than sitting on your hole waiting for someone to do it for you. PS - we had no one from HSE or elsewhere come into our plant to tell us how to do this.

So a face bask is ok for a SNA doing personal care needs?

What are childcare workers in crèches doing? For the small number of students involved, the unions should have been able to agree something to allow special needs kids go back to school. Plenty of other sectors are doing their part, the teaching unions are the exception here

[Supermarket staff are enclosed in perspex]

Very poor carry on from the teacher unions

Any employee is entitled to health and safety and promotion of health and safety is properly the business of a union representing its members.  Note that the politicians that are criticising the teachers are down in the conference centre at great expense to make sure that they do not come with 5m of each other.

Plenty of workers are continuing to work through the pandemic, factories, supermarkets, etc. How are teachers different?

Supermarket staff are enclosed in perspex and customers in supermarkets are expected to wear masks, although shamefully some supermarkets do not protect their staff in this regard. By and large teachers are not enclosed in perspex nor are their customers expected to wear masks.

Not the ones who are restacking shelves.

I honestly think it's a disgrace that the unions can't agree something that will at least allow special needs kids and leaving certs to return to school, there'd be plenty of space for everyone with reduced numbers

Why is it up to the unions and only the unions? The point is there is no plan to discuss. I know a SNA and they are on PUP. They are itching to get back but not at any cost. They aren't even given masks

So the unions aren't happy with whatever had been offered - let them release a list of what they require, if their demands are reasonable, public opinion will be fully behind them.

Can someone explain why the 14 day incidence rate is higher this week than last week when there are far less cases this week ?

The 14 day incidence rate will only start to fall when the number of cases today is lower than the number of cases 15 days ago - the number from 15 days ago is the one that's being dropped from the calculation.
