Laois / Re: Laois senior hurlers 2026

Good league for Laois. To go through it unbeaten shows there is quality there and in fairness they never looked like losing a game.

Tommy has managed to try different players and formations and they are improving as a unit. Considering we have been without real leaders through retirements and injuries they've done well. It has given the opportunity for others to take on the leadership role.

It's all about the Joe McDonagh this year though and we really need to win it and get promoted to next years Leinster championship. It would be an disaster for Laois hurling to lose out 3 years in a row and we really need to beat Carlow in the opening game with an impressive performance and lay down a marker for the rest of the championship.

Three derbies next year with Offaly and Kildare being relegated and Carlow promoted.

Minor hurlers out against Kerry in O'Moore Park tomorrow. How are they shaping up this year and is much expected of them?

Fermanagh rock bottom until Doctor Laois comes to town.

It makes me think of Eminem's song. Can the real Laois Shady please stand up.?

An unexpected result to say the least. Hard to know where Laois are at considering the bad defeat the Wexford. They do have to finish the league strongly to back up this performance.

If they do that they'll be going into the championship in decent shape.

For what it's worth Knockbeg second years beat Coloiste Eoin in the Leinster final today.

Knockbeg also won the Sth Leinster Junior A final yesterday and the first years are also in a Leinster A final.

Decent Laois representation from the South East of the county on all teams.

Drawing a home game to Limerick is not the start we needed.

It does make the job a lot more difficult.

The best we can hope for is to stay up in Div 3. We wouldn't be good enough for Div 2 anyhow.

Futile exercise up in Mayo. Huge score put up but wouldn't have been any better than a match in training.
They will need to be getting a couple of challenge games against other counties or they'll be well undercooked heading into the Joe McDonagh.

Any of you at the game in Stradbally last night?

Must be a first, having an inter county hurling match at the Windy Gap.

KK up next.

I remember Cheddar saying (could have been a podcast with Wooly) that Willie had fierce problems with one or both knees and would be in bits after a game.
I'd say it's more down to that than anything else.

Sorry to see Willie go but he's given great service to the county and won't have any regrets.

He would always come up with big scores when they were needed.

Matured over the years in the sense that he took a lot of abuse and often reacted getting carded or sent off. In saying that he was a man for the fight and the dirty ball.

His performance against the Dubs in 2019 was immense and he hit some cracking scores.

Unfortunately we don't have anyone who can step into his boots so he will be a big loss.

Fair play to him.

Knockbeg had a good win away to Good Counsel and are in to the 1/4 finals.

I see Mountrath CS had a good win recently as well.

Any other results of note.

November 21, 2025, 12:33:31 PM
For those of you who attended or watched a lot of games in the championship, were this years winners the outstanding player in the respective championship or would they have been run close by others. Who, if any, were the close contenders?
