General discussion / Re: Fleadh 2026 Belfast
August 08, 2026, 10:00:39 PM
I thought Translink had it together for my route anyway.
I got the 212 last night at 10:15. There was a bus to Derry and one to Castledawson at the same time. One left for Maghera five minutes earlier. I thought the service was excellent.
We got to Castledawson and the bus headed straight back to Belfast for another load.

Can't see Jacko not being at the helm next year if he wants to be there. He'll probably be there for Kerry's 40th.

QuoteI did tell you lads that England v France would have been the most interesting final.  Won't be any surprise should Spain and Argentina be a bit of borefest tomorrow night.
I don't really care. England are in no danger of winning  it now , and that's all that matters.

I have my  preference  for both winning it tomorrow, but not  bothered either way

I have nothing against the team. It's the media I can't stand. They would be insufferable if England had got through to the final. I had a bad day at work on Wednesday and when they went 1-0 up I was even more sickened but the relief when they lost was unbelievable. I don't care who wins tomorrow either.

Quote from: Armagh4sam2024 on July 18, 2026, 10:58:38 PMProof that 3rd place play-off is as pointless as an ashtray on a motorbike. Fcuk me, which  Dublin and Louth players would want to turn out for a 3rd place AI match?
Silver and bronze are definitely very much a real thing in the Olympics but in the World Cup second and third mean sweet f**k all!!!

It's a glorified friendly!!! France couldn't care less and now England are the greatest thing since sliced bread again. 😀😀

Ronaldo was always the better athlete, but Messi is just a more naturally gifted footballer. Less theatrics with Messi as well - a far more rounded team player who doesn't seek to make every game about him with theatrics.

For me that's why he should be considered the better of the two overall.

I've only looked at the last comments on here but I've seen plenty before from the same source and I have to say Gallsman you are always up for a fight with your inflammatory talk.

How come everyone is a dick or an imbecile except you???

Quote from: laoislad on May 19, 2026, 09:26:59 PMCity doing us a very small favour with that late goal tonight. A draw will do now against Brentford for Champions League next season.
Still wouldn't be confident we'd even get a draw but at least we don't have to go into the last game having to win.
I'd say it was a very big favour.

Quote from: Derry Optimist on May 04, 2026, 06:05:46 PMTo possibly pacify my good friend "Screenexiles" indignation, may I clarify that I always agreed with the introduction of the two pointer system to encourage long distance scoring from open play but I disagree with it for a free outside the arc. I think that it is too severe a penalty when the reward for a goal is still only  three points(and Derry got three of them on Saturday after great combination play by several players). We do not want our games to be decided exclusively by two pointers from frees.
Maybe I had my red and white tinted glasses on but I thought the frees for Monaghan's first two pointers in the second half were extremely soft. Did no one else think that was the case?

I was just talking to an old friend. He said he had been past Casement on the bus recently and some work appeared to be going on.

Had a few trips to Munich in my youth. Great times.
Spent a year in London but was working seven days a week so didn't get the good of it at all.
The only plus was that I saved enough for 6 months in New York which was great.

Quote from: gallsman on March 22, 2026, 02:41:46 PMMichael Lyster. RIP to a legend.

A real pro of a presenter. Polished, good humoured and could manage the pundits. RIP.

Indeed, a real class act as a broadcaster. RIP.
You wouldn't even know he was from Galway when they played. Just really professional and never showed any bias.

Maybe the reason he didn't show bias towards Galway, was because he was Waterford man  😋
I always had the impression he was a Galway man. His family moved there when he was four. But depending on his upbringing it could explain the non bias alright.  ;D

Quote from: Capt Pat on March 17, 2026, 10:30:25 PMChelsea 2 psg 8 is probably a better reflection of the quality of the 2 teams than the result in the world cup in the summer. 3 nil to Chelsea in that final.

Club World Cup was a money racket of glorified friendlies.

Simply not true. Once they were there teams were trying to win it.

I was seriously surprised that Chelsea won it. Looks like PSG definitely try harder to win in the Champions League.
