9k at the meeting of the big 2 in the Leinster hurling championship today. I imagine it won't get the same headlines the 22k at Dublin Meath got

The vast majority of Ulster counties would be putting s&c coaches in place for the underage development squads.Quote from: Keyser soze on April 15, 2024, 03:04:23 PMAch come on man, yous gave the ball away under zero pressure a dozen times in the first half and kicked 3 or 4 good point chances into their keepers hands.
The first thing good coaching does is establish the right mindset.
Ok. So tell me what mindset Andy McEntee and Colm O'Rourke have given our players? Are they telling them they can't win? Are they telling them it doesn't matter if we lose? Of course not. Don't be thick.
As I said these lad have been winners coming up through the minor ranks. Do you think Keoghan is still playing over a 100 games for the county for a bit of craic?
I bet the stuff the Meath lads are hearing in training in terms of mindset etc is no different than any other county. Why would it be any different?
And saying there's no pressure is nonsense. There's pressure on every ball and pass in that game because possession is key.
If you know any thing about it it's because the people in charge of Meath football don't know what they're doing. They put good things in place and then let it fall apart.
Dublin have a full time S&C professional overseeing that from U14 right to senior who was working with Leinster rugby previously. We've had 2 people in to do a similar job who stuck around for about 2 years each and then quit.
It's not the players mindsets, it's not Colm O'Rourke, it's the mindset perhaps of the county board and their small mindedness.
Quote from: Derry Optimist on May 05, 2020, 01:44:43 PMJim McKeever surely has to be in there?
Instead of reading unfair negative publicity, from one quarter, about our native county I think that we should take up the excellent suggestion initiated by that gem of an analyst from Ballinascreen, the redoubtable "Estimator." He suggested at the beginning of April that we should select an All-time Best Derry team based on only being allowed to select one player from any club.
It also must be acknowledged the great publicity by the superb Tony Scullion interview and by the magnificent cameo series by our County PRO and Michael McMullan in the Derry Post. They are what good, fair journalism should be about, recalling the great players and magical moments in our GAA history. It should not be about the insensitive opening of old wounds and adding more grief to people who at this time are undergoing much personal suffering.Anyhow the following is my best Derry Senior team based on Estimator's criteria for the last 50 years 1970-2020.
Damian McCusker(Glen)
Kieran McKeever(Dungiven) Brendan Rogers (Slaughtneil) Tony Scullion(Ballinascreen)
Joe Irwin(Drumsurn) Henry Downey(Lavey) Gerry O'Loughlin(Magherafelt)
Anthony Tohill(Swatragh) Fergal Doherty(Bellaghy)
Sean O'Connell (Ballerin) Damian Barton(Newbridge) Sean Leo McGoldrick (Coleraine)
Paddy Bradley(Glenullin) Enda Muldoon (Ballinderry) Mark Lynch(Banagher)
John Somers,Henry Diamond,Anthony McGurk,Peter Stevenson,Brian McGilligan, Gerry McElhinney,Sean Marty Lockhart, Enda Gormley and Joe Brolly are unlucky to lose out under the one player by club rule.
Quote from: dublin7 on January 06, 2020, 01:55:54 PMPackers never played the Ravens. They also beat the Vikings home and away, the vikings didn't look too shabby last night. The packers have been far from spectacular but they are winning which is all that matters. Can't see them winning in San Francisco right enoughQuote from: magpie seanie on January 06, 2020, 09:40:46 AMQuote from: gallsman on January 06, 2020, 09:33:14 AM
Watt coming back is an incredible story and his sack, in hindsight, ended upchanging the game, but listening to Tessitore and that absolute moron Booger bang on about him, you'd have thought he was putting in the single greatest defensive performance of all time
It'ds hard to believe these two but especially Booger get paid to commentate. So many times they say stuff that is clearly the oppositie of what has happened before their eyes. Utterly clueless.
That's the only negative note on a great weekend of games. Playoffs are just that cut above the regular season. Hard to see past the rested home teams next weekend - I think the Packers will be delighted with not having to face the Saints.
Hard to believe Packers finished the season with a 13-3 record. Personally think their record is more a reflection of their opponents than their own strength. They were blown away by the 49ers and Ravens in the regular season and only beat the chiefs at the start of the season with a late touchdown when Matt Moore was the Chief's QB.
Wentz leaving the game cost the Eagles any chance of winning the game. Can't believe Clowney wasn't flagged and/or ejected. Dangerous cheap shot, and not the 1st time time he's gone in late like that on a QB.
Based on form it's hard to see past AFC championship game between Ravens & Chiefs, which should be a cracker.
49ers with home stadium advantage should win out the NFC

The lack of end product maybe?
Don't see how anyone can question McCleans place in the team.
McClean was poor enough the last day but he still put more balls into the box than the two on the other wing and no one says anything about them?
Lots do, but Robinson isn'tan established first team player.. McClean has one assist this campaign after starting every game. Not a good enough return.
Quote from: tyroneman on July 19, 2019, 09:08:31 AMNot sure where in Portrush will show it with the golf on. Portstewart possibly best option
Also - is there a 'safe' pub to watch the GAA in up there?

On McCann incident... defo did not kick on head that was was down to mchugh pushing mccann.
Not sure what his hands were doin around the face shouldnt been there but it was not an eye gouge and was not a fish hook...his fingers were closed. Hands shouldnt have been up there tho it happened very fast.
Brolly rabbitting on about the brendan rodgers incident again which was clearly accidental. And how is anyone gonna rip out a man's teeth and gums with his fingers I'll never know Coming out with shite like that boy is gonna get what is coming to him is dangerous talk. O, Rouke and his manliness
CCcc will spring to action now tho since the tail has wagged it.
The holier than thou brigade out in full force today. Quick to jump down the throat of anyone not prepared to send McCann to the gallows. EVERY Tyrone poster has condemned McCann but it is reasonable to argue that he may have not intended his stamp (slow motion can often be misleading) and it is reasonable to argue that he put his fingers in the other players mouth rather than the narrative which has circulated on social media, that it was an eye gouge and it's also reasonable to argue that, just maybe, he shouldn't be banned from the GAA for the rest of his life. Yes it was a stupid, despicable act for which I hope he gets banned, but any sort of argument to the contrary of stringing him up for a public execution is not just poor form.

Quote from: Farrandeelin on June 08, 2019, 11:54:03 AMAnother draw is made to determine home and away unless its a division 3/4 team against a team from division 1/2 then the lower ranked team gets home advantage.
What's the deal with home and away in round 2? Is it the losing semi finalists that get home advantage?
Quote from: Itchy on May 03, 2019, 06:06:16 PMDerry beat Monaghan first then lost to Cavan in Rd2. Monaghan and Derry then both made it through to the final via the backdoorQuote from: LeoMc on May 02, 2019, 07:12:12 AMQuote from: Itchy on April 29, 2019, 05:11:08 PMThe 2 losing semi-finalists?Quote from: LeoMc on April 29, 2019, 04:12:50 PMQuote from: skeog on April 29, 2019, 04:06:15 PM
Tyrone seriously impressive against Donegal according to reports from the game.Backdoor introduction casts a doubt though momentum can often be gained by a team beaten in the first round.
How does the back-door system work in this competition?
Everyone who loses in round 1 goes into a qualification back door, two teams emerge from that to play the two teams that won through to the semi final in the conventional manner. I believe the two teams who made the final last year were both knocked out in the earlier rounds.
I th I k it was Derry v Monaghan in final. Cavan beat Derry in 1st rd and pretty sure someone had beaten monaghan too
Quote from: Real Talk on March 06, 2019, 04:26:53 PMThink he might have been with the hurlers last weekend
Just glad that we have got promoted and in the quickest way possible. So hopefully the best of the U20's can add a bit of "strength in depth" to our panel and maybe they will get a run out in the Qualifiers.
Was Brendan Rogers injured again for last Sunday ?
