29th April it was $118, currently sitting at $99

The basket of basic food items in Ireland has risen by approximately  17.5% since 2020.


Butter in Ireland is 42% more expensive in 6 years! And farmers still complaining lol

Up north this time last year the milk farmer was getting 43p/litre and now they are only getting 36p/litre, you see the problem here, everything else has risen but they are getting less. I don't see what is funny

What's worse is that the packaging hasn't caught up, a lot of the wrappers still are the larger size

Believe it or not the fire brigade is the biggest user of these chemicals and has only begun to try and move away from using them

I understand the issues with PFA's (Dupont in America etc etc)

But following the logic below (please correct me if I'm wrong) are you not overblowing this a little?


The 'biggest user of these chemicals' is the Fire Brigade

They use them to put out fires presumably? (relatively rare)

They make a concerted effort to catch effluent involved in firefighting - especially if it is a longer term effort

They only leach into Lough Neagh when the fire is in the catchment area of Lough Neagh (we exclude a fair proportion of fires)

They've now moved away from using them

Not really Franko, they are called forever chemicals for a reason. Fire fighting training would have been using these regularly, even the clothes they wear are full of it.
You take the large towns of Ballymena, Lurgan Craigavon Portadown Bandbridge to name a few who's sewers and storm water empty into the lough which is not treated to remove these chemicals and then this same water is picked up for drinking water to the same towns and again its not treated to removed the same chemicals and the cycle keeps going over and over. Logic tells you that this is a problem.

Did they ever establish what caused the cluster of leukemia cases that occurred around the Mid ulster area recently.

I work 9-5 in a office job during the week, farm in the evenings and lay blocks on weekends for customers who are looking small jobs done. Just do what you gota do.

The residents could reply that they might be prepared to discuss terms to allow a fifty person - 50/50 male/female Orange Order members in a  silent respectful walk and that number should also include 10 members from the Orange Gay lodge.

how do you pronounce Garvaghy   as in Garvacky or with a silent g?

Boils my blood that they won't pronounce it the way its meant to be.
Heard this morning that back in the 90's the residents association proposed to the OO that they could walk the road with a small number of orange men, no music on condition that 32 young children from the road were included and wearing their club colours.

The problem is that even if NI water get additional money now it will take at least a decade to bring the system up to standard as it means digging and laying new pipes as well as upgrading treatment works in every town in the north.

On a separate note people are concerned about the algee in the lough (rightly so) but there is a far worse element emptying into the lough and NI water are not actively testing for its levels. PFAS (forever chemicals). Lough Neagh is prime for retaining these and they are not removed from drinking water. People need to get on to their MLA's to put pressure on NI water to start testing and release the data. These chemicals are a real treat to our quality of life and to our children's lives.

No new housing developments are getting through planning in the majority of towns in the north at the minute as NI water wont grant a sewage connection. This even applies if you want to do a change of use from offices etc to apartments. I dont think people realise the issues that this is going to cause in the near future.
NI water are calling the shots.

I never listen to local stations up here in the north, car and home radio is tuned into Today FM mostly.

Wasn't a big fan or anything but you could tell she was one of the good ones. Down to earth and no airs or graces.

Journalists should be highlighting the link between Ben Habib, Arlene Forster, David Trimble, Lockhart, Binlid Bryson, Jim Alister and Burrows. Binlid is the media front but Habib is funding this carry on and it needs to be looked into more.
