I see Maurice Deegan is doing the senior replay. Have to commend Seamus Mulhare on the first game let game flow good, was as good a game of football i've seen in Laois in years. He has come in for some criticism unfair imo.

No Leinster championship of any sort in 20 years, this is part of the problem. A core that runs everything in Laois Gaa with another act of cronyism, which is driving good people away from Laois Gaa.

Mistakes happen. it was an honest mistake- this is not the premier league where referees are full time professionals. Accountability-if ever there was a Sky Sports pundits term it's that.  Go to every and any county forum page and you have posters with the same gripes etc. regarding referees. It is a thankless job-as you are showing this with your comments. Some referees are better than others. Accept that mistakes happen and at the end of the day it is only sport. No one is intentionally going out to referee these games to purposefully sabotage a club or make bad calls. If you are so passionate about this you can go contact your local Referee Administrator, either Vincent Dowling on (086) 339 7952 or Maurice Deegan on (086) 803 3823 and discuss with them the importance of accountability. I'm sure they would be very appreciative of your thoughts. While you are onto them they will also be able give you details on upcoming GAA Referee Foundation Course in Laois, which you will have to complete before you can referee games. GAA Club Referee Course only take 3 nights to complete and are delivered by GAA Referee Tutors. You'll be good to go for the 2026 season.

I have refereed games. Scorekeeping & timekeeping are fundamental to refereeing. He is a poor ref end of.
Players training all year for their championship to be thrown into limbo by a referee who is clearly not up to it.

The great Rosenallis excuse for any bad performance- the number of games caught up with them. They simply are a team who are consistent in being inconsistent. Can play above themselves in games and capable of beating any top team. Realistically do not have the depth of talent to be more consistent and be really challenging for honours.

I think Rosenallis will be content enough with their year - young team, 23 & 24 were poor from them. Ahead of the hurling only clubs this year - The Harps, Abbeyleix, Castletown.

No-one saying ref should be banned, stood down for at least one round of championship would be appropriate.
For him to get the semi-final is ridiculous. No accountability is the major problem.

Senior football going to 12 makes sense. Senior hurling going to 10 is ridiculous, should be going to 6 or staying the same imo.

Croke park don't seem to want to do anything with our provincial football setup. Leinster & Munster are not competitive, Connacht is mildly competitive, Ulster is a good championship.

Option leave Connacht & Ulster alone. Mix Leinster & Munster Top 8 in one division - bottom 10 in division two type championship both knockout competitions.
 
Hurling is different for me, i like both championships & would like to see 2 rest weeks instead of 1 atm.

Brilliant viewing last night on a top class man. He has really had some career & life between his playing days, coaching, music & tragedies ( where he got the time & energy god knows ) & yet he continues to give what he can to the youth of today , who should appreciate the knowledge & passion this man has, 2nd to none.
He is one of life's really good guys who always related to values, what he believed and stood for & his roots/ his parents throughout , so humble through and through.  Well Done P C

I agree with that. I've suggested it to members of my club - the abuse they are subject to is what put lads off. Hard to blame them. You really need to have a thick skin to go into it.
I'd like to see croke Park along with all county boards come up with a strategy to tackle this.

I don't abuse referees BTW. Like I said at the start of this thread impossible job they have, Croke Park don't do enough to protect them.

We're all volunteers? That chap in Offaly was after coming out of the hospital is the talk - actions have consequences whatever someone's state of mine - the lad should've got a minimum 48 week ban imo.

I can see the danger in that. Can we ask gaa boards to delete a thread? Maybe in a months time.

Clubs are ranked every year on their performances, why can't clubs rank referees every year maybe on a survey & send back into laois gaa is this not a proactive step? Or is just a select few who decide who are good referees?

I believe croke park needs to support our referees more. Rescinding these bans such as the incident in the Tullamore v Summerhill is not helpful. Injured player banned 96 weeks correct decision, then appealed received 24 weeks, effectively no punishement.

Not sure whats the big deal, i for one will not put anything negative up about any referee. to my hurling list.
