General discussion / Re: Katie Taylor in Croker?

Croker looks fantastic and I'm sure the roar when she appears will be unbelievable.

No matter about women's boxing being poor or whatever she's just sold out an 80k stadium so she's leaving it in a much better place than than when she found it!

One of Ireland's best ever sportspeople!!

I agree I think he's lost a bit of the mentality from the Masters win last year... he kind of sleepwalked the Masters this year without being spectacular nobody really stepped up to take it from him. It was much less of a rollercoaster than 2025.

I think even the Masters win this year meant he wasn't top of his game for the other majors.

Hopefully he'll come back focussed next year for all the majors. I think the move to a matchplay format for the Tour Championship will help as well in 2028.

Quote from: bennydorano on August 11, 2026, 10:43:50 AMFurious on Disney + is a very high quality show. Best thing ive watched in a while.

Just caught up to date this evening. It's brilliant starts slow and builds with episode 6 being class there it's moving along for a big finish now.

The acting in it is superb. Petticrew Rossum and the woman who plays agent Washington are first class.
Well worth a watch!

I'm similar MR2 I wouldn't be advocating for my kids to go to Uni unless it's something they were actively interested in that was vocational like medicine/law/accounting/physio/slt etc.

When I went it was "go do something in computers" and I ended up doing half business half IT and was proficient in neither when I got a proper job. I didn't need a degree to do the job I have now.

I absolutely enjoyed my time at Uni and had a blast but a 10 hour a week course and coming out with £30-40k odd debt is a waste of everyone's time!!

Agreed it had got good reviews so I watched it but it is a big steaming pile of turd.

Disclosure day was also poor

Obsession was probably the best of a bad lot that I saw this week and it wasn't great either ;D

Just watched Obsession I thought it was great I really enjoyed it.

Absolutely mental and as someone said before the lead actress is brilliant in it!

Quote from: HonDerry on July 27, 2026, 10:25:47 AMOn the Mayo game, for me it was a case study in belief and bravery. How did that come to pass from a team that no one rated as an all Ireland contenders a year ago.

Every player I heard interviewed talked about Andy Moran's enthusiasm and positivity and how he gave them belief. Do we really think, man for man, they are way ahead of our players? I actually don't. I think a fantastic coaching team got the very best out of a good, rather than great, group of players. They gave players chances based on performance not on reputation and age. That's No. 1 for me.

But secondly, their players repeatedly talked about the fantastic lift they get from their support.

How does that compare with our support? How many games over the past two seasons would our players say that, when things got tough, they got a lift from the crowd? I'd imagine hardly any

Belief doesn't just come from the management and the players themselves. The atmosphere around a team matters too.

Finally, on these "skycrapers" that we arent using that I have heard mentioned here a couple of time since our championship exit. Who are these giants that walk among us that I can't see?

Mayo dont have any skyscapers and beat the teams with the so called skyscapers, Meath, Louth,Cork and Kerry with 4 midfielders players. Didnt see Mayo catch many kickouts but they were so well organised and dying on the breaking ball

Flynn/Tuohy/Carney/Kobe/are all taller than our midfielders and O'Connor at wing half is the same height. They've plenty of big men!!

What a game!

They absolutely deserved it. It wasn't pretty at times but they wore their heart on their sleeve and never stopped working.

Thought O'Donoghue was immense all over the pitch.

McGuinness, Derry, Monaghan, Galway,Down,Kildare?
If Kerry win might Jack step down?.

I don't think Derry will go for 5 different managers in 5 years! Maybe a shake up of the backroom team.

Surely Bannigan stays with Monaghan?? He has a 3 year term I think.

It was everything you'd expect from a Nolan film great acting, great storytelling and the film looks and sounds amazing.

Went on Friday evening to the Maxx and really enjoyed it. 3 hours was probably a bit self indulgent 2.5 hrs would  have been plenty.

Apart from that it's well worth a watch!!

Tuchel 100% deserves the blame that last half hour was a shambles!

Not that I'm complaining!

Far too close to say it was or wasn't I think.

Bit of a sucker punch goal against Canada but they've offered little since the first half... they need a few changes I'm not sure why they're waiting so long!!

He's so unlikeable... Joanne should ask him if he's getting rid of the 65 yard lines himself for next weekend??!!!
