Agree. Lav put a target on our back after the Donegal win. Too much talk of screen savers and such nonsense. He should've played it down. Kerry, Donegal and Armagh was too much 3 weeks on the trot. Massive task to lift these lads now for a B competition. We are still top 16 team just unlucky the way its fallen. Hopefully the lads see out the summer and dont go to America where there is always the lure of a few quid.

I was in the terrace and id say it was 95% Donegal but in fairness to them they shook hands at the end and wished us well. Decent supporters.  The workrate off the ball really impressed me yesterday. Everyone had a job to do and stuck to it. Marty Clarke along the line in the terrace side was having serious impact on the lads and always giving clear and concise instructions. Now the hard thing is to repeat that performance on Sunday. Hopefully everyone came though it ok and no injuries.

When Murdock drifts out of the game the opposition really get on top. If we lost him we'd be distinctly average. He could easily start for any team in Ireland. Despite scoring heavily in the league so far we still lack and an out and out scoring forward. Big Pat quiet but hopefully as conditions improve he'll get back to banging over 2 pointers. McPolin and Crimmins definitely good finds and add value to the team. 2 points away to Wexford and we've 1 foot in Div 2. No game has been conformable yet.

At present I wouldn't have Galway top 5. If they get their strongest 15 out then maybe. Armagh, donegal, kerry, Dublin, Tyrone.

Galway must have had their strongest team out when they beat Armagh a couple of weeks ago....

armagh played a right few of their 2nd string to be fair. Look measure it how you like. I just wouldn't be happy with morale victories. We'd a great chance to top the group by beating monaghan and another chance to make the quarters with a home game against Galway failed at both. Knowing Lav he'll be furious. This shite of competing against all Ireland contenders won't wash with him or the panel. The way the draw panned out we'd a great chance to make last 8 and even last 4 and we didn't take it. Itll be hard to make huge improvements against Div 3 teams next year.

At the risk of disappointing Urbangael, we are not demoted to the Tailteann just yet. If we make an Ulster decider next year, we will be back in the All Ireland series with the other seven provincial finalists. Even if we don't, we have a real prospect of qualifying via the NFL. Kildare will be big favourites to win this year's Tailteann and go through to the AI in 2026. The Munster championship is reportedly going to be seeded, meaning a likely Kerry/Cork final, with lower division sides like Clare and Limerick probably eliminated. All that means that the D3 winners can go through ahead of the the bottom two in D2, unless the rules get changed. Galway have been in two of the last three AI finals, and the idea that they are not serious title contenders is as ludicrous as the suggestion that this has been an unsuccessful season for Down. This team has put the pride back in Down football and we are not finished yet.

I wouldn't be disappointed in we are back competing for Sam next year. Galway missing their keeper and Comer. Walsh not fully fit and still had huge influence. I just think we come unstuck against top 10 teams... top 5 teams would wipe us out. Great to see the buzz back in Newry but playing the Sligos and wexfords etc would dampen enthusiasm unfortunately. Hopefully the squad sticks together add few new faces and kick on to the next level.

We started the season in Div 2 and competing for Sam we end it in Div 3 and back to Tailtian. This season has been unsuccessful when you analyse it in the cold light of day. Some huge positives. We've uneathered a quality keeper, Murdock one of the best in the country but realistically we are still miles off it. When we came up against what I'd describe as half decent quality we weren't good enough. Monaghan and Galway will be nowhere near an all Ireland. Lav needs to get to as many Down Championship games as possible amd find 3 or 4 more players. Preferably runners who can add physical presence and defend in some shape or form.

Absolutely brilliant win today, really poor in the first half but what a second half.

McEvoy, Havern, Guinness and McCrickard all great in the second half I thought.

Mooney and Murdock both had poor days but that'll happen.

Guinness with a monster 2nd half. Magill excellent also and what a goal!  Can't agree with Mccrickard... 2 shots one terrible wide and one short into keeper. Down crying out for a brilliant inside forward. Young keeper looked quite assured. Could do nothing about the Cork goals. You could argue 2 toughest games out of the way. Home wins will keep us in Div 2

Any recommendations for cheap house insurance lads? Being quoted crazy money at present!

That was a hard watch in Clones yesterday. Could've won it if we had a reliable free taker or a few lads that could stick the ball over the bar from 30 yards. Laverty had a great chance with his mark too but never looked like scoring. He initially looked to pass the ball back which tells you all. Too many athletes and not enough natural footballers in the squad.
Really poor down crowd for an ulster semi against the old enemy. Probably a number of reasons for this including the dour style of football, and our spineless county board following the ref fiasco at our county final. Attendances definitely reduced after that.
