General discussion / Re: Do the People Care Anymore?

Society is built on capitalism, we now know no govt is different really and that will never change. We have to change capitalism ie the system. The crux is this can only come from the top, 200 and odd people in Ireland tell the rest of us what to do. Its a crazy system and not democratic at all. Were made to believe it is. The people have to take back the power but this requires a behauvioral and atitudal shift big time. Way too much materialism, and only caring about one self.

Also this will sound crazy to most people but i dont care. Most religions based on power inequality ie christianity, muslim, are all based on the we only get one life. The damage this causes cannot be underestimated. Most people dont care about future generations because they wont be here, its fuels a "i must consume as much as possible in this life because i only get one shot". But imagine reincarnation was true and you knew youd be sent back here when you die, would you want to come back to a dying planet, wars and more suffering? I think not.

I believe this mayan 2012 prophecy is coming, not in the end of the world type thing but a conciousness shift in human conciosuness and evolution that will hopefully bring down capitalism. It usually takes alot of pain for us change our habits. Hopefully we'll end up with people caring more about the world and others aswell as themselves.

Hypocrite after all the bad things you say about Kevin Walsh and that young Sligo footballer who had to get his father to have a talk with your father about your antics!

His points are in no way valid and suggesting they are is WUMmery of the highest order.
Are you Mike Sheehy?

To be serious I really agreed with this point he made

QuoteYup, taking the piss out of some Brits is now seen as an act of vile racism rather than ... just taking the piss out of some Brits.

Shouts of racism from Armagh were quite pathetic

His points are completly negated by the fact that no team by the name of Londonderry have played Shelbourne in his lifetime. Once a **** always a ****.

He obviously meant Derry City FC.

A brilliant article in the Irish Independent. People might not like the Journalist but he has hit the nail on the head with this one.

QuoteWell, have you stopped laughing yet?

I am referring, of course, to the sublime and thoroughly hilarious spat between Armagh and the Republic of Ireland.

QuoteAnd proving that nobody does self-righteous whingeing quite like Northerners -- only Scousers could give them a run for their money when it comes to this -- they claimed that the sight of some Laois players singing 'God Save The Queen' and referring to the Armagh players as "British Bastards" was "provocation in the extreme"
.
Quote
One Sunday afternoon, Londonderry were the visiting team and when Shels scored the visiting fans turned on me and started to call me "a Free State bastard".

Does that mean I was racially abused?

Roscommon, we will win Connacht this year and depending on the draw we could very easily make the semi final. Who knows after that.

General discussion / Rugby World Cup 2023- Ireland
March 25, 2012, 12:48:33 PM
Leo Varaker Minister for Tourism, transport and sport was on the Sports show yesterday with Des Cahill discussing the possibility of ireland making a bid to host the Rugby World cup. It would be an All Ireland event. It would need the support of the GAA to make it possible. There were however points to note.

1. Ireland (North and South) would have to pay a fee of €160 million euro to the IRB to host the event.
2. We would need 11 stadiums to host it

Ravenhill, Aviva, Thomond park and the RDS would be the four Rugby venues to host it which means we would need seven other venues to host it. the majority of these would have to be GAA venues.

Windsor Park (Soccer) Croke Park, Celtic Park?, Pearse Stadium, Casement park, Mc Hale Park, Fitzgerlad stadium, Pairc I Chaoimh, Tullamore, Portlaois are all possible venues that could host it. Windsor park and Casement park are all set to undergo there own renovations, but the GAA stadiums will need a bit of investment. leo Varaker hinted that it would be worth there while i.e development money.

I must have missed the thread you started about all those killed in Israeli air strikes in the last few weeks too  ::)

FFS who isn't disgusted at what happened in France. Children were shot in the head FFS....don't start pretending you give one flying fcuk enough to start a thread to talk about it though, when it is so blindingly obvious you only started the thread to stir shite. Then again, stirring shite seems to be your raison d'être.

While I would normally agree with the sentiment, given your posting and thread history its like the Kettle calling the pot black.

EG, I don't see anything remotely funny in this whatsoever. It's no laughing matter...
I thought I had made it clear, but maybe not.

Anyhow, quite aside from Gaelic footballers exchanging (deplorable) sectarian insults etc on the playing field, as a Unionist I find it hugely amusing that Republicans who all profess to want to see a United Ireland, should at the same time give each other so much grief from their respective sides of the border.

It all reminds me of Brendan Behan's observation that whenever Irish Republicans meet, the first item on the Agenda is always 'The Split'...  ;)

Not all of us want a united Ireland, most of us want nothing to do with Northern Ireland.
