I'm genuinely shocked at the lack of coverage given to the Connolly incident. That was an extremely nasty knee he gave Fitzpatrick.

twas indeed..............no need for that at all, hes a targeted man and needs to rise above the goading

kavanagh was no angel either let me tell ya, thought he was gonna whip his baton out at one stage

In fairness Kavanagh does not get that animated on a football field without good reason. Goading or not it was a cowardice act by Connolly. Heres hoping the powers that rescinded his red last year might have a second look at this.

well if they do have a second look oul sgt bilko kavanagh will be in deep water too.......................he is caught striking on camera too

careful what you wish for

If Kavanagh gets a ban then so be it. Connolly is nothing but a coward.

Not a bit bitter now are we Dubs?

Funny ye didn't mention Connolly tackle on the Kildare full back. He's some brave boy to come down on a player with two knees into the back of the head. He should be done for it.

Funny you didn't mention Kavangh's attempt to kick him after it, but being a Kildare forward he didn't fully catch him. Could both have been sent off.

Ronan Sweeney must have ice on the soles of his boots. If that wind was any stronger he wouldn't have been able to stand up. Never seen a big man go down so easily so often.

Not bitter, didn't expect that Dublin team picked to win. Happpy with Andrews & McMenamon's efforts. Just looking to see how new lads do.

No you're not a bit bitter are you? For a person who didn't expect the Dubs to win you are coming out with a fair few excuses as to why they didn't. Get over it will you - its only the OByrne Cup.

Only counties never to have lost an AI Football final?

What about Mayo?

Not sure if you are taking the proverbial but Mayo have lost a few in recent times.

Incidentally Kerry are the only hurling team (1891 I think) to do likewise as far as I'm aware.

If the Armagh v Roscommon match is going to be the week later then was there a reason given why Derry v Kildare couldn't be the same?

I see what you did there :-X. Yes, I agree. They should have gotten an extra week.

The ref's decisions on Sunday had a huge impact on the outcome of the game fact, and it is only natural to be annoyed about it. Kildare people were and still are correctly annoyed about what happened them earlier this season, McGeeny livid to say the least. All Derry like anybody else wants is FAIR play especially as the match is now a home game for Kildare well almost

As a matter of interest where do you think the match should be played?
Well casement would be every bit as fair to Derry people as Croke Pk is to Kildare, Newry would be fair to both

I'm not meaning to sound smart but would those not be like a home ground to Derry?

Personally I think the GAA should have given Derry an extra week. But its the Ulster Council is to blame. The dates for the qualifiers are set from early in the year. They could and should have played the final a week earlier.

S Kenny was a massive loss for the blood injury..............................game would have been stopped if it was Mr Doyle who grazed his forehead  ;)

You've an unhealthy fascination with all things Kildare. Everyone of your posts these days mention them in some way.

Now thats I've responded, have you got the attention you so dearly crave with all your posts? You remind me of the donkey in Shrek - 'pick me pick me pick me'

Donkeys a legend so that will do fine with me............................ besides kildare are worthy favs for the all ireland, why wouldnt I mention them ?????.................if I didnt it would be like taking a gick without any bog roll  ;)

Its Dublins to lose so. They beat the team that you call worthy favs.

That game last Saturday will do Kildare no harm at all. Meath had them on the ropes with about 10/12 minutes to go. In fact I'd say they were on top at this stage and looking likely winners. I have to admit we probably got a couple of softish frees that were marginal. I was more than happy to come out of Navan with a win. Shane O Rourke and big Joe probably should have put Meath two up so it could have gone either way.

However I don't think there is any AI in this Kildare team. They are behind Kerry, Cork and Dublin at best. The likes of Donegal will be hard to beat and Mayo have a talented bunch of footballers who probably like ourselves are short a few players to seriously challenge for honours. IMO Down are second only to Kerry with the set of forwards they have. The likes of Derry, Tyrone and Armagh still have a kick left in them. I like the look of Wexford too as they put one of the AI favs to the pin of their collar. They'll put it up to a lot of the teams left. Limerick with Galvin would put it up to them but I honestly can't see them beating Wexford.

At this stage it looks like Kerry, Cork and Dublin. I can't see anyone else bringing Sam home this year I'm afraid.

They did win in "fortress" Newbridge in the league earlier in the year. Kildare's distinct lack of anything resembling a "natural" footballer apart from Johnny Doyle is going to come back to haunt them one of these days.

Derry's to lose...

lol...that baldy boy up front can play a bit. And the big massive blonde haired colossus is the find of the season whatever you call him. Hands like shovels. Kildare by 15 in a repeat of the Celtic Park massacre.

Ah here...

McGeeney to assemble five pre match huddles.
Kildare to kick forty wides.
Ten Kildare players to suffer cruciate ligament injuries.
Johnny Doyle to kick one free in injury time to put a bit of respectability on the scoreboard.
Final score: Derry 2-12 Kildare 0-01.
McGeeney to assemble six post match huddles which will delay the throw in to the Cork v Down match by two hours.
Pat Spillane and Kevin McStay to say Kildare are still no3 in the pecking order on the night edition of The Sunday Game.
Meltdown on Res Dubs.

Very good DH.
