"She claims her husband, other parents and volunteer coaches were unhappy with the approach to the tournament taken by Richie Herity, who was the head coach of the under-9 group."

Probably a dispute between play your best players and try to win versus everyone gets a turn.

At under 9, which is the right thing for a coach to do?

Should loud parents be able to over rule a coach?

I wonder what his approach was, best players on to win every game or give everyone a game even if it meant losing. I have seen Parents flip over both.

exactly. Don't know whether the club were trying to give equal game time and the parents wanted to win the (Under-9!) competition, or the coaches were playing the best players and the parents wanted all the kids to get a game.

Either way, there has to have been a number of opportunities since for both parties to have come to an agreement on this. Ridiculous sideshow with the kids losing out at the end. Anybody around the area know the back story?

In Fairness  if it was a Tyrone team in place of Dubs,  we would already have decided that they did it on purpose and  a replay would already be ordered a or the game would be awarded to the opposition ;)

I can't believe it's taken over a hundred replies for Tyrone to be hard done by out of this!!

The woman in question is rightly arguing this is an issue overall but I think people are insane not to recognise the role bots and trolls play.
One lad on Twitter was taking screen shots of comments and saying Tiernan has to stop his followers.
FFS @antoti789 and the likes are not even people! This is going to roll on.

what woman in question? What are you talking about?

Didn't realise how decent Utd are. They got up to speed quickly under Ten Hag.

19 games left. If someone said, we're having half a season and Arsenal have a 5-point start over everyone else, I'd be hoping for challenging for 4th. A ten-point start, I'd think City would overcome that handily too.

Enjoying the run but still think City will have to lose another 4/5 times. Could happen.

it would be an 8 point head start tho, given City were on 42pts after 19 games compared to Arsenal's 50

I think AI is going to be the new internet and will take over our lives in ways we can't comprehend over the next 10-15 years!!

Would need to do better than "a fantastic game of GAA" though!

tbf that's due to the unclear input  "write a GAA match report"

At the start of the melee, What's the Stewartstown No. 2 trying to do to D Clifford on the ground, grabbing by the balls or sthing, then holds his face pretending to have Been hit, this the same lad mouthing to him after been send off. What a dick.! Doubt that one be doing the rounds in the coming days.

was wondering about him holding his face. After a couple of watches, it seems he's holding his face at the start of that clip - no idea what, if anything, happened just before this. Right hand disappears out of shot after - impossible to say what happens here but there doesn't seem to be any grabbing. Could be a jab if anything. Clifford doesn't seem to react the way I would if my balls were grabbed

(Obligatory post pointing out that there is a difference between sex and gender)

And that even with something like genitalia it's not always clearly and neatly defined.

If hormones can blur the lines with anatomy, why would gender identity not also be subject to variation during development?

Nature doesn't place everything into neat pigeonholes.

That aside, I don't know wtf these people are so afraid of.

From my knowledge & understanding, sex is a biological construct while gender is a social & language one. I'd guess that fits somewhat into near-modern feminist theory.

For sex (at least as it goes for humans), the general mode is male & female derived from the sex chromosomes, normally either XX or XY. Of course there are occasions where this does not easily fit for some people due to DNA corruption at some point during early pre-birth development e.g. Turner syndrome or Klinefelter syndrome. In some cases, sex chromosomes are not absolute defining characteristics but they usually don't cause medical issues either for themselves or their offspring. With the current technology, we don't have anything that can change a persons sex and until we are able to realistically approach that potential goal, there is no debate to be hand on this.

Gender OTOH whilst historically derived from sex, isn't rooted in science itself although a lot of language makes significant links to it. On the whole issue behind it, the be honest it's a case of "I'm not going there" for the simple reason that any time I've discussed it (elsewhere), both sides of the matter I've found have zealots that make any rational, frank debate almost impossible. While it can be easy to dismiss "both side-isms" in a lot of cases, unfortunately this is my experience. Now on on hand you have people whom are openly anti-trans; if you had a venn diagram you'd likely get a significant overlap between them and those with other hard-right/alt-right/"alt-lite" talking points/causes, (though there's a number right across the political spectrum). I know that an awful lot of them are c**ts in general, so that's to be expected. However I've also got both barrels from "the other end" as well where if you don't agree 100% with their view on trans identity, you're anti-trans & a bigot etc. even if you're just asking questions to try and learn more from peoples experiences and to compare them with others - one person labelled me as such during a discussion of voter ID simply because I mentioned that in the 20 years its been in force I have never heard of a story either in person on trying to find one online where this was an issue to a trans person looking to vote in NI (or anywhere else in Europe that has such rules of their own) when said person, resident in GB, claimed that it would be a potential risk to trans people. To me it's like the Israeli government claiming that anyone critiquing any of their actions are anti-Semitic, let alone anti-Zionist.

Because of the above paragraph, I'm out when it comes to it. For me, I'll take each individual issue as it comes. In a world which has become hotly polarised, where anti-intellectualism has grown to uncomfortable levels, where people who don't like what they see or read is hand-waved away as "fake news" and where Orwellian undertones (mainly in language but also a bit in the realms of authority or those seeking it) are incrementally increasing without effective checks & balances, I ended up getting tired of all of the shit going on. All I can do is vote and hope that reasonable people whom want to make the world a better place - even where I'd might disagree with a lot of what they say/do but actually have some f**king competence in public service - take the reigns sooner than later rather than being "ruled" by parafascists and/or people who think its all a big laugh while raiding the public purse for themselves & their mates.

Great post

Stinks of marketing ploy to sell more Mayo jerseys to be cynical about the situation. Players could wear rainbow laces individually if they wanted to support LGB community in the GAA.

So you think Mindspace have asked for this so Mayo can sell more jerseys?! Jesus wept.

As others have said, I believe there is a need for this type of thing.

The stats would tell us that there are either a lower percentage of LGBT people playing GAA than the general population, or a lower percentage of GAA players being open about being LGBT. Either way suggests we have a way to go as  a society before people can be comfortable, and confident that they will be accepted.

On the jersey thing, I can see that the GAA do not want to allow this, as there are a host of other causes that could be worthy and where does it stop. The article suggests rainbow armbands or laces would likely be approved, and that seems like a good way forward

Hadn't heard much about Andor. Does it work as a stand-alone, or how well would you need to know the entire back story?

Spent 6 nights in April this year, stayed in Hyatt Place, 39th St and 8th Ave, it was the best value we could find for a family room. Was an expensive week between flights and spending money, but everyone had a brill time.  Did The Edge, Central Park, Times Square, the High line walk, the Village, Staten Island, Sunset cruise around the bay, plus a good few bars and restaurants along the way, some city.

Staten Island?? ??? ;D

Yes, Staten Island ferry to head to the Empire Outlet stores, ferry was fine, stores weren't good.

The Circle Line is a great sightseeing tour, seeing the city from a different perspective, and not mad expensive iirc.
