Seen the swapping of hands too, thought it was decent call if that was it..

Yeah clearly a call on swapping hands. Good call in fairness in the heat of battle!
I didn't notice that in the heat of the battle.
Does the ref have some hand signal to indicate a foul for a swapping of the hands?

He seemed to make a movement of his hands similar to an over carry but more of a side to side motion. Rare you see that called by refs but I think given that McCarron had been static enough it was easier maybe for him to see.

Yeah,  the lose to us in 2015 took a lot out of them. Yesterday might do the same. The team that started yesterday has lads who have been playing together for over 10 years. Beggan, McArdle, Caulfield, the Hughes, Morgan, Carey, Carville, and Hamill all were playing in 2012 when I was coaching them.  McCarthy was just breaking out of minor that year too. That's 2/3rds of this team have been on the road with an awful lot of miles on their legs when you include county football. They'll struggle to get back to this level unfortunately

Quote from: Armagh18 on December 10, 2023, 09:18:43 PMThought Scotstown had a couple of chances to go for points and went for goals instead which proved their downfall. McCarron also gave couple of silly balls away late on.

My thoughts too.

Watching the game I thought that myself. Chances for scores,  shooting from silly angles,  forcing it when they could have worked simpler scores. Genuinely wanted Scotstown to win this as I know a good few of them and they're really good lads and the like of the Hughes and Beggan would have a great club career we'll set off with an Ulster win. A lot of pressure on shoulders in clubs like Scotstown to be able to say you have a big one on your pocket,  loads of boys walk around clubs like that jangling county medals in their pockets with little or no playing time. Just like ourselves. It's only when you win outside of the county can you stand with the big boys.

Glen were that but more clinical at key times. There's an awful lot to be said for knowing how to win these games. Pushing on at key times and building momentum is something that differentiates between top teams. Glen have it. The question now is can they go the whole way?  Kilmacud in the semi is better than Kilmacud in the final. If the game is played in Newry or even Navan then I can see them having a real chance.

Liverpool will  destroy United next week
Not so sure. Form often goes out the window when those two meet.
Will be like a Cup Final for Man United so wouldn't be surprised to see them up their game big time.

You'd think so but United have a must win game v Bayern in CL and Liverpool have a nothing Europa League game. Liverpool will rest their main players you'd suspect which United cannot afford to do.

Quote from: Aaron Boone on December 08, 2023, 08:41:59 PMAnd there are guys like this in every big town.

The Google search is frightening reading the rap sheet. He had been in today's courtroom many times before.

No indication yet how Odhran came across his path that fateful night.

Have heard the craic of what happened. Fucked up. Not putting up here for obvious reasons

Quote from: Duine Inteacht Eile on December 07, 2023, 10:09:03 PMRestaurant recommendations in Lurgan, Jim?

I've always found it to be 100% and as previously said, not a pile different than a lot of other similar sized towns around it. One thing was always different for me however. It always seemed that there were more people in the bars in Lurgan than in the other towns. I mean day drinkers, midweek drinkers etc. A great drinking town as you would hear people say. Not sure it still rings true today.

And another thing. I was in it around May in the blistering heat and trying to find a decent ice cream shop was nigh on impossible. You'd think they could sort that out!

I'm sure illdecide could have pointed you in the right direction....

Quote from: lurganblue on December 07, 2023, 04:41:24 PMAs a lifelong unfortunate Villa fan, I cant remember too many better performances.  But as I said before, they were totally rotten v Bournemouth a few days beforehand.  Who knows what side will turn up v Arsenal. Emery has done a wonderful job.

Had a soft spot for Villa in the early 90's...loved Tony Daley. Still remember a lot of those players...Cowans, Spink, McGrath, Platt, Ormondroyd, Yorke, Atkinson, Parker, Richardson, Froggert, Olney, Barrett, etc.

Dean Saunders was  on fire  for a while at Villa too.  Ray Houghton I enjoyed watching too

Liked Villa myself  around then , mostly because of the Irish players there, especially Paul McGrath.

I remember when Liverpool bought Saunders and Mark Wright in the same summer. They played Da Town in Oriel Park in a pre-season match. Some occasion!

Quote from: brokencrossbar1 on December 07, 2023, 04:47:39 PMLurgan is no different than most urban areas, apart from the fact it's full of Spades!  Only kidding of course. Through football and work would have been in Lurgan many times. Footballers have the typical North Armagh thing going on but that's just a bit of craic.

As for drugs they are everywhere, absolutely everywhere. Would be out regular enough at gigs and events and while drink is always a plenty there's a serious amount of stuff being sniffed. Thankfully not in my direct circle but I was beside a table of ones the other night,  the 'lovely people' and there was some amount of toing and froing to the toilets!

I remember when you'd wear a tie to go to the Arena, taking the bus down from Lurgan. There were two buses would go from the Cellar Lounge every Saturday night. Went back a few years later and it was all shirtless lads blowing whistles, open drug dealing in the car park outside. A mate went to the bar and asked for a bottle of beer and the bar girl looked at him like he wasn't a bit wise. It was almost exclusively bottled water they were selling for the Ecstasy crowd.

Ye wore a tie to the Arena?! The ecstasy was flyin in the mid 90s across all of those Arena type nightclubs.

Thursday night on the Arena was different gravy!  They also used to have a guy on Friday nights on and off who was a sword swallower!

It's clear that teams are attacking into the space that is left by Trent pushing up. Last night on MOTD Genius and Donny Osman were saying how he needs to be pushed into midfield permanently. I actually completely disagree with that. I believe that a proper no 6 closes the holes Trent leaves,  like Fabinho used to do. One example yesterday was when MacAlistair ran back and won a foot race to prevent a breakaway chance. If the right Mf is there then that closes that off and allows Trent to be Trent. Bajetic does it brilliantly but he is still young and body is developing,  making him injury prone. If Konate can stay fit, and get a new no 6,  Andre or whoever is on the radar, in January then there's a greater balance in the team.

Quote from: imtommygunn on December 01, 2023, 11:24:44 AMHe's not shocking but he's not a great keeper either tbh.

He I a second string keeper who has had 11 clean sheets out of 27 games. Nearly all of his games are behind the 2nd choice defence so he doesn't have the protection that Ali would have. He is a very strong 2nd keeper and would benefit from having the main defence in front of him.

RIP Shane. Musical genius. Met him once in Queens SU toilets circa Oct 1994. Was playing in the Mandela Hall and he was hanging over the urinal in a heap. I says to him,  'great show are you alright?'  He told me to go and fcuk off. So I did....legend!

Anyone with young ones driving around the border counties be wary of some of the insurance policies from the English insurance companies. Some of them have restrictions for under 25s which limits the cover to NI only. Once they cross the border there's no insurance.
