Mayo / Re: New Mayo Manager

This is the management team we were looking for. JOM was very level headed in his interview yesterday and rubbished talk of all ireland in his first year. This is exactly the approach we need. Lets not forget we got hockeyed in the all ireland with this bunch of players last year. I do feel though that JOM is a shrewder manager than mm. With the inclusion of tommy Lyons I think DB will come out of retirement. I am glad to see Kieran Gallagher stay on,the players seemed to have a good relationship with him (the hill incident and the mm walk out- he was the players confident). Carney is also an invaluable addition, i feel this is the team we need to win sam. But it may not be this year maybe next...  The main thing is that this is a defining moment in mayo football

GAA Discussion / club v club?
November 16, 2006, 02:19:13 PM
what do people think of the situation in galway this weekend where club games are being postponed because a player from clonbur is playing for UCD in the leinster Championship on the same weekend. I think it farcical that this should occur. He should be made choose which club he is playing for, it would be different if it was a specific university tournament i.e sigerson, but this is a basic club championship vrs club league predicament. Just to set the record straight i have no problem with any of the universities playing in the club championships. but players in this situation should be made make a choice.

greenabovered I think you mean Micky Loftus (ex president of the gaa). He was the  county coroner for Mayo and that is why he is against alcohol so much.
With regard to Alcohol sponsorship, having a competition sponsored by an alcohol company is not going to make people go out and drink it. Sure it does increase the profile of the product but it is different if an individual endorses something this might increase the appeal of it more.

If JOM takes the job.You would imagine that this time around the county board will not be appointing one of his selectors. So anyone have any idea of who his selectors will be or who they would like to see. I would like Kieran Gallagher & Tommy Lyons (ballina)
