Could we not leave this kind of talk to the relevant thread boys? I have political views, just like we all do. Wouldn't dream of bringing them up at the side of a pitch and don't see why on this forum should be different.

Antrim / Re: Antrim Football Thread

Depends how you measure standard of football really.lamh derg would have been beat by kilcoo, kilcar, slaughtneil, scotstown or omagh by similar if not worse scorelines.but the top four or five teams in antrim are at a similar standard.kilcoo, slaughtneil, cavan gaels and scotstown are at a fairly higher standard than most if not all in their own counties.so kilcoo being possibly the second best team in Ulster does not mean the standard in down football is extremely high, they have won 6 in a row after all.
That said,i wouldn't say the standard in Antrim is as good as it should be.at intermediate and junior it is very low.maybe that's because of the structures for championship?

Surely the fourth division teams would vote against this, not to mention the reserve teams themselves?

I wouldn't be one to buy into the rte anti Ulster bias conspiracy theories, don't really care if they try to promote rugby as the sport everyone in ireland actually loves when it is barely played by the vast majority of us,and definitely am not over sensitive.i wouldn't even go as far as saying that crazy map offended me,but I would wonder to myself why the national broadcaster would use that map.maybe it was just an oversight.i'd genuinely hope so.

Sure it's not much further for the belfast lads than travelling to newry.i'd concede its maybe not the best location.but it's been used by county teams in days gone by and was never an issue.it might even give football in the surrounding area a boost, which would be no bad thing, plus its a better location for the hurlers.

Thought crossed my mind aswell, but still think with tyrones gameplan and rigid defence, what is happening to Donegal couldn't happen to tyrone.the big question is can they're system  turn over a dublin/Mayo/Kerry with said system.we'll not know the answer until semi final stage.

I'd say that was a wink in the direction of his own misbehaviour on a night out.

I'm not sure he compared himself to connolly talent wise at all. I can't remember exactly how the conversation went, but was he not referring to the fact he was in a spot of bother, non football related, similar to connolly?
His podcasts are the best about in my opinion.not afraid to call it,see his interview with dick clerkin, generally a good bit of humour, and covers the hot topics.

Take your point, but murtagh at club level is one of the best I've seen.no surprise he's still deciding matches in the top division, same as muldoon for Ballinderry.

Do you feel the same way when Justin McMahon goes out and takes the lee keegan tactic to its maximum every time tyrone play Donegal?in fairness to keegan he also provides a huge attacking threat for Mayo,McMahon is nothing short of a disgrace every time he plays Donegal, adding nothing to the game and using every trampish act he can to stop Murphy playing.

This crap is popping up more and more recently.a couple of years ago there were headlines made when the men's prize for a poc fada competition was a lot better than the woman's prize,I think it was a holiday compared to a tracksuit, something like that.
it was pointed out that the gaa didn't run the ladies competition, and that it was the camogie association that organised the ladies prize.was that a suitable explanation?of course it wasn't.you still had a load of eejits saying 'ok..yeah..but still...'.much the same as the original poster.
The ladies footballers and camogs are well taken care of by the gaa from what I can gather.
