'competing with bigger spending clubs'

Reds deluding themselves

I'm actually enjoying this whole saga

popcorn stuff

MEANWHILE, the government have probably made more cuts somewhere, appointed cronies to state boards, and many of them are walking off into the sunset with huge pension pots.

The Promoters were "trying to force through" 5 concerts ( in reality applied for licences for 5 concerts).
The GAA could have said NO but didn't.
The GAA knew that the local residents had agreed to three concerts a year. Which had already been held.

The motivation behind the residents bringing this event crashing down was because they are going to lose their bar on the new plans for the handball centre.

What providing a boozer for locals has to do with promoting GAA is beyond me. Most of them have no interest in GAA, or are anti-GAA. I'd say their knowledge of handball would be laughable.

I'd be delighted to see the place bulldozed in the morning after this fiasco. Let them find a different pub.

you need to go down there and see what they use the current handball centre for.
parties, funeral receptions etc
space is used for dancing classes, martial arts and other stuff.

Maybe Clare Daly had a point

by the GAA trying to force through an extra few concerts, on top of the One Direction gigs they have made themselves look very silly.

So the Rossies have to play an Ulster team, at the home of the Ulster team, in a match refereed by an Ulster referee.
Like playing Mayo with one of the Duffys in charge

It could be a very tight game.

You'd say Roscommon have the forwards to win it, though they kicked away the game v Mayo.

A lot of this is that the security firms and Gardai go overboard with the security barriers before games and events imho

Go to the premiership and games in residential places like Goodison, Anfield etc and they don't put the place on lockdown

Fine display by Kerry so far.  Cork look pretty limited.

Does anyone remember when they used to penalise illegal hand passes??

yeah, it's pretty rampant this year.

Jesus Cork have awful, playing against the wind and they seem to be going man to man, Jason Ryan would be proud.
they are unable to kick the ball accurately from the hand.
if an under 12 team were so poor you'd be embarassed

Laois are going well at underage hurling, is that part of the reason?

I don't know the intricacies of both but there seem to be some similarities between Casement social club and the handball club ?

not really.
the article doesn't mention that the handball centre is used for a load of other stuff - irish dancing, martial arts, darts, pool, parties, funeral receptions.
as well as handball (though the GAA has run down the centre in the last 15 years in the hope of clearing it)

Wicklow don't actually have a good championship record in Aughrim
