I got Snedeker at 50/1 on Paddy Power there Drinking Harp.
Also have Fowler Stenson Lowry Westwood Donald.
All small each way punts.
Is a complete lottery though in fairness.
Think the law of averages will go against Speith. That said he really has the balls for it. Last Sunday he chipped in on 16 and birdied 17 to make the play off. If he does make the B9 on Sunday in the mix he will fear no one.

Watched that last night. Funny i was thinkin how different the culture of a stout (or 2) a yarn, a song, family connections etc differ so vastly from the scenes of "culture" emanating from the news broadcast before.
Havnt been in any of those pubs but as the oul boy said at the end it would be some holiday touring them all.

When Dustin Johnson is hitting Driver wedge at 495 yrd hole its little wonder the courses are being tricked up to an extent.
That said Chambers Bay is no less asthetically pleasing than a lot of Open courses in GB.
For me the technology advancements in golf are diminishing the skills of distance judgement, eye for the game etc.
Once the idea of my 6 iron goes x distance is removed most pros and amateurs shit a brick.
Ban range finders, yardage markers etc and get back to judging the shot as you see it.

There is no skill in judging distance as distance is a matter of fact. Take away the yardage markers/range finders and I would (or caddies) pace out the distance (as would most other players). You haven't a clue, so its best to say nothing.
No skill in judging distance/club selection in golf what planet are you on? You havent a clue, so its best to say nothing!

By the reports ive read so far a large percentage of the pros dont like the place a la RCD at Irish Open. Its hard to know if a manufactured links such as Chambers Bay will stand up to the more traditional links courses on The Open roster. It may be the speed of the greens that decide the scoring. If they are super fast and undulating then it will make low scoring very difficult.
The distances these top pros hit the ball now is making some courses almost redundant. Maybe the powers that be in organisations like the USGA feel they need something different to protect their notion of par as a sacred cow in the US Open.
I enjoy watching these guys "struggle" to an extent on tougher layouts.

In terms of betting its tough to pick before the event. Might be better to wait til after a round or two.
That said 4 of the last 5 have been Europeans. Dare i whisper Sergio!!

During the week I had a singles match. I was 4 up with 6 holes to play. Then I was one down starting the 18th. And I lost it on the first play-off.

Today, stroke competition, and I was playing to my handicap until the 16th hole, and I dropped 10 strokes over the last 3 holes.

And advice?
i was going to say grow a set or quit but that would be cruel.
Sound like u need to work on the mental side of your game. Try reading Golf is Not a Game of Perfect by Bob Rotella. Its simply a brillant book on golf

So you would recommend either keeping a bunch of low irons and hybrids, but not a few more scoring options (note, options - not saying anyone has to hit them all the time), or alternatively not playing with a full bag? Why handicap yourself?

Interesting.

No if I had to make a recommendation, i'd remove the low irons (3 & 4) and 5 wood as I'm assuming they would be around the same yardage as the 4 hybrid. I'd maybe look at the gap between the driver and 4 hybrid and fill that (another hybrid and/or 4 wood maybe). Again I suspect there is a big gap between the PW and SW, so maybe something around 50 degree. I would't put a 60 degree in the bag until the poster starts improving contact and understands how opening up the clubface affects loft etc....

I would point out that it is possible to play without 14 clubs. So off 24 I wouldn't be worrying about filling the bag but finding clubs that don't lead to destructive shots. Even if the poster doesn't replace the removed clubs; there is plenty in the bag to allow him to improve. I'd play a bit to figure out where you need to fill the gaps (if at all) on your home course.

Handicap is currently at 0.7 but here is my bag.
Driver
15.5 degree hybrid
3 hybrid
4 to PW
49 degree wedge
54 degree wedge
60 degree wedge
Putter
Corner back this is great advice from someone who can obv play golf. Your easiest way to improve is working on your short game. Learn to play "pitch" shots from your 7 iron thru to SW. And work on your putting. Any higher handicappers i know have a shite short game hence they are playing off 20+.
Work on 80 yards in and putting first. I play off 7 and have had either 12 or 13 clubs in my bag for most of golfing life

Good luck

Im in the money already. Had Russell Henley e/w in the 1st round market at 70/1. Only got half tho as Garcia tied him in 6th. Still ok start.
I think the "smart money" would stay clear of the overall market esp before the tournament starts as a bad openning round can rule you out.
My fav bet this week is Tiger to miss the cut at 6/5.
Another big possibility is the 54 hole leader not winning. This is a big trend in golf this year.

Been playing with Ping G2's for about eight years and they were about 5 years old when I bought them. Love the irons but the driver and woods were not up to par. Upgraded to the G20 driver, G20 5 wood and a G20 4 hybrid over the weekend (all new/ never used), wanted a G30 driver but got all three clubs for the price of the G30 driver alone (driver 125, 5 wood 120 4 hybrid 100).

What a difference brand new woods make, the pro told me after 4-6 years upgrade the driver because they way the material takes a beating it looses its "pop" after this time. New G30 driver in 2019 at half the price now.
The shafts in your irons have probably deadened if you have had them that long. I changed my a couple of years ago to a new set after 10 odd years. Really notice a diff esp on those shots not out of the middle.

As a racing novice, pardon the pun, is Ruby Walsh a superior jockey to Tony McCoy. He seems to win more of the big races. Would he have more wins at Cheltenham than McCoy?  Or is the jockey secondary to the horse. Ie: can a good jockey win on a bad horse?
