This framework is all bullshit anyway.  The real problem is as obvious as the nose on your face.  THEY WON'T SHARE POWER WITH A FENIAN FIRST MINISTER

When the Unity referendum comes the sizeable population originally from Central and Eastern Europe will have the opportunity to get back in the EU and therefore have closer links to their home country.

They're not going back to serve under a Fenian First Minister. Northern Ireland is finished, but the only way out is democratically and quickly.

Make sure your friends,  family,  neighbours and work colleagues are registered to vote. Has your daughter moved to Uni, your cousin moved house  Maybe your Polish work colleague never bothered to vote?  Make sure they are all registered!

Malin Village, Co Donegal.  It's a triangle, but a beautifully kept open green in the centre of the village.

No, I didn't say that. Of course kids from those schools and many others go to Uni. A previous poster estimated that a lecture had a possible 100/20 split in favour of Catholic students and I'm just elaborating on how that is an entirely credible scenario.

A hell of a lot of students from a Protestant background go to college across the water. Not sure of the figures though
[/quote]
The 2021 census confirmed that there are significantly more Catholics than Protestants in NI. The detailed in depth  figures have not been released yet, but they will show that only about 33% of 18 year olds are Protestant and that well over 50% of 18 year old are Catholic. In addition Protestant schools tend to have lower educational attainment and therefore a lower percentage of Protestant kids actually go to Uni. Of those that do go to Uni they are significantly more likely to choose Scotland and England in comparison with their Catholic peers. When you add this all together the proportion of Protestant kids entering University in the North is a tiny percentage.  So much so that the 'Protestant' teacher training college in Stranmillis has as many Catholic students as Protestants due to St Mary's  being over subscribed.  This has been going on for years but the disparity is increasing each year.

Growing up It was common to hear the Catholic community referred to as the minority community,  Usually by some arsehole Secretary of State.  It is a very colonial phrase.

It is no longer in use for obvious reasons.  There no longer is a majority community and every other reason for the existence of Northern Ireland is defunct.

The Time For Unity is Now.

Down / Re: Down Club Hurling & Football

Lurgan and Newry are two similar size towns. Newry probably bigger and unlike Lurgan is probably 95% Catholic.  But where are the Gaelic footballers?
Yesterday Armagh had
Conor Turbitt
Tiernan Kelly
Barry McCambridge
Stefan Campbell &
Andrew Murnin.  All Lurgan Men.
Down have nobody from Newry and have been under represented in Newry for decades.  Surely this is a big failure by the Co Board.

GAA Discussion / GAA club names.
February 27, 2023, 09:09:03 PM
Every now and again in the North attempts are made to demonise the GAA by certain sections of the media and political  groups who insist that GAA club names are something to be ashamed of.  This has been usually met with a mixture of stout defence and from some quarters an acceptance that the GAA can do more to be more inclusive.
In reality though the names of clubs throughout the country are an astonishing achievement in themselves.  To the best of my knowledge the names of GAA clubs are unparalleled anywhere in the world.
In this years All Ireland club finals, Crokes beat Watty Grahams and Shamrocks beat Cuchullainns. Local History,  National Heroes,  National pride, mythology, , Patriots,  Saints,  Martyrs and much much more. In English football you have City, Rovers, Town, Wanderers,  Athletic. Bland  meaningless stuff. In America you just pick a wild animal or something..  Its time to celebrate the History and heritage of our great names.

With Glen getting to the AIF I read up on who was Watty Graham?  He was a Presbyterian Church elder from  Maghera, Co Derry who was hanged in the COI rectory Maghera for his part in the United Irishmen rebellion of 1798.
I think we should post the stories and backgrounds of our famous club names and celebrate one of the things that makes our organisation truly great.

Very thorough explanation David thanks

Thanks David,

I see Colum Eastwood has a post up about this, and he is asking people to be mindful of the McAnespie family when commenting on the case.  My first reaction like most people was that this is a load of bollocks, but the McAnespie family have secured a conviction.  They should be commended for their tenacity in this case, and I would hate for them to think that it wasn't worth their while.  I am sure they knew exactly what to expect from the sentencing.

Monaghan v Armagh SOLD OUT.

Over 2 weeks until the game.  What is the capacity in Blayney?  I don't remember any National League game being sold out anywhere ever?
