August 13, 2008, 01:06:29 PM
Hi All,
I've been on here before trying to get the word about about the site. I hope people don't mind me publissing two new features.

County Team Stats:
http://www.gaainfo.com/player_sheet.php?sport=f&co=wexford

Player Stats:
http://www.gaainfo.com/player.php?player=14&sport=f&co=wexford

Obviously the last 2-3 weeks results arent on, im working on the layout at the moment. Just trying to get some feedback.

Any one have suggestions or feature requests - please send them to gaelicgames@googlemail.com?
Do people think this kind of website is useful?

I'm not on the County Board but can I ask:

- Should one of the pitches not be retained and developed for Dulwich Harps and the other local clubs?

They might be over grown but they would have to be levelled to have houses built on them anyway.

I'm dead set against the centerising of London GAA. I think that the few clubs that are south of the river should be clubbing together to fight it. If you want to grow the GAA in the town you dont centeralise everything in one field in the corner of the city.

And you sure as hell shouldnt sell capital resources to pay for current expenses. Any junior cert business student would know that.

This is one of the un-mentioned issues of London GAA.

The county is centralised with most of the games taking place in Ruislip and Greenford (both in North West London). All the clubs outside of that have no proper (self owned) facilities and are forced to travel to NW London for 9 out of 10 of their games. Growth in London GAA is really hampered by this distance issue.

There are a few clubs near New Ethlam. These include Dulwich Harps, Cuchuallans and Green Isle Camogie. Dulwich in particular, have put in place a really good underage system in conjunction with a seconrdary school.

To sell off this land to pay for debts (which including sending county teams back to ireland to get hammered) is very shortsighted.

They could perhaps justifiy selling off 2 of the 3 pitches... but all three? Lunacy.

And not to use the pitches for 15 years, out of spite? Well, to be honest its just typical.

Hi,

This is a bit of an advert, but I'm sure people will be interested. I've just put together a database of intercounty results.

You can search it to see your county has done against all others over the years:
http://www.gaainfo.com/compare.php

Its completely untested, so if you have any opinions, please send them onto me: gaelicgames@googlemail.com.
(that includes mistakes in the results!)

Thanks for that - i'll correct it by next week.

I can't do much except correct errors when they come to light. Keep any errors coming:

I would have done the same for Offaly but I thought they were using the sportsmanager system.
I didnt see the point in re-inventing the wheel. Does it not work properly?

Your ould fella played for Brigids? I played for them when i was a kid (for a couple of years) before leaving the bridge.

PS: Gaelicgames.in is an old name for the website in case your wondering.

Actually the tables are build up automatically from the results. The problem is making sure I don't miss out on a result!

Hi there,
I'm trying to get the word out about a Westmeath GAA results service that I have put together.
http://www.gaainfo.com/results.php?co=westmeath

There doesnt seem to be a proper Westmeath tread so I decided to post on this old topic

Any suggestions about the website, send them along to gaelicgames@googmail.com

Up the Lake County!

Cheers,
Mark

You're right - my mistake - i took the wrong number from here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/County_Cork

I know 5 fellas from Cork. 3 are dual. One only plays hurling. One plays a bit of hurling but mainly football. To thats what i was baseing that statement on

I agree darbyo. There are large areas of HURLING counties in which there is no hurling played - but its covered up by they fact that another part of the county is hurling mad. Compare these to maps:

Football clubs in Cork:
http://www.gaelicgames.in/football.php?co=cork
Hurling clubs in Cork:
http://www.gaelicgames.in/hurling.php?co=cork

There is no hurling clubs in Beara (west cork division) at all.

In offaly all the serious hurling is done by clubs within about 10 miles of Birr

Hurling north of Tipperary/Kilkenny is confined to 'enclaves' in which there is only hurling e.g North Westmeath, South Roscommon (which borders Galway's hurling heartland.
