General discussion / Re: Premier League 20/21

Frank Lampard's signings are Football Manager esque transfer business. Gossip column purchases under a manager who has so far not portrayed any capability as a manager in the Prem League. Media like him because he is English and his achievements as a player but that will soon fade. He has severe limitations and already his interviews are littered with excuses and 'appeal for time' style statements. He and Solksjaer are poor managers at this level and their teams do not play with any noticeable identity.

Compare this with what Arteta has done at Arsenal already in his short time there. There is a bit more going on in his brain with a vision and a plan of how to improve his players and his team.

Top 4 this season for me:
Liverpool
City
Arsenal
Leicester

Not sure if Matty ever got called up to county seniors. Denis was in and around squad shortly after his U21 days under wee James I think but wouldn't have got game time in league or championship. The other three were all Senior players who figured for Down last season. Throw Liam Bagnall into the mix there too and that is a lot of talent to be doing without.

Coping without Matty, who has been their top scorer for 11 years for three quarters of Sunday's game, just shows the resilience of that team. Full of admiration  for the work of Tony Bagnall and his management team. A first ever win in Ulster is a great achievement.

I'll second that minus 15. Remember the last time me and you ventured into ulster championship football 😂 we can meet in Armagh next Sunday and reminisce about it

I have been back since with similar results

How about settling the game the way the Ladies hockey was decided the other night. Players attacking from the 50 one on one with a time limit. Or my preference would be 3 attacks each, 2 forwards attacking 2 defenders and GK. Goals only and no time limit. Would be great to watch imo

Rubbish... sure just constantly foul then till time elapsed

Read what I said again.

Teams such as Kilinkere can just effectively throw a championship to get downgraded to maximise chances of success in Junior. Not saying it can't happen in counties such as Down but due to league placings and championship being connected it is counterproductive to do so. Div 4 in Down is not really the place for any team with serious ambition for any sort of success.

Queue and crowd management forms a part of the training that the Door Supervisor undertakes.

It will be interesting to hear if the staff on duty were employed directly by the hotel and whether or not they were suitably licenced with the proper training.

Happy enough with that draw.
I'd have been happy no matter who we got.
Seems though fans of another certain club are more interested in who we and City got than themselves.

You are obsessed with other clubs. Almost every other post has a direct or indirect jibe at them. Those that aren't contribute nothing to this thread other than stating the obvious. Posts like this where you try to set yourself out as being some sort of superior being: predictable

1-0 is enough I think but if Napoli score Liverpool will need to win by two clear goals. Olympiakos was the same

I could see it being Madrid, Roma and Hoffenheim

We will have to wait and see what happens. Jusr think LFC as a professional organisation should and will provide some further clarity for the benefit of their millions of followers.

Yes it would appear that way Geoff. The last thing the club said officially was that he was taking a leave of absence for personal reasons. The club's communication is usually excellent. I would be surprised if the season starts without something concrete to provide closure to the situation. Why exactly do you think they don't need to provide an update?

Has there been anything official from the club over summer in relation to Zeljko Buvac? They need to confirm one way or the other.

Well done, that's put Liverpool into clear second favourites for the league, 4/1 which I think is a bit short, 6/1 is a better price..

Utd look flat and boring.. Jose out by Xmas

Obviously no comparison between who United will start with in a Couple of weeks but decent performances by Liverpool. I watched the two post match press conferences and the difference in man management is stark.  Klopp was gushing in his praise for his young lads while Jose essentially threw his players under the (parked) bus. Basically said Sanchez is unhappy because the players available aren't good enough. Can't see how that helps these players develop.

Read in a report as well that Liverpool's average age was younger than United which surprised me

I read all of the above in the same report.

Liverpool need a player to play up front in Firmino's position. There is no adequate cover there. I would like to see Werner who could play from the left also.

Would this Fekir be an option as a false 9 if bought?

From what I have read about him, I didn't think he would be that type but only going by what I have read.

Would love to see Werner signed as I really rate him but at the figures being talked about he would be an expensive backup.

I see Villa are looking £40m for jack grealish.  ::) If that's true Can is saving Juve some money!

Werner's versatility would mean he is much more than a backup. The likes of Ings, Solanke, Sturridge, Origi can't play wide. Werner could and give good options.
