Was a shame not too see much celebration but Dg contributed to that, as someone else said Kc have had harder training sessions

Warm ups always interested me, its really on the player to know what works for them, there's no one size fits all, some need to break the first wind in the warm up others feel drained doing that, it seems as though Kc are superbly conditioned and coached (OK no doubt they are), but with Dg being so poor on the day its hard to figure exactly where Kc are at, the next day out will tell i suppose, would be nice to have the AI Club back in Ulster

We can certainly judge them on the Glen game, and seeing how tough it was from Glen to get over the line against the Donegal champions, its a fair enough reflection of how well they can play.

For whatever reason, DG got it all wrong on the day, and there is no hiding place when that happens, that doesn't make them a bad team either and no doubt if they get past their own championship again they'll come back better prepared

I listened to the Derrygonnelly manager being interviewed before the game and remarked on just how nervous he sounded and that was exactly the way their team appeared on the pitch. They played not to lose or to keep the score down and looked frightened in that first half in particular. Probably they were never going to win that game no mater how they approached it but it would have been better to die with their boots on not left wondering.

At the time the Kilcoo Glenn game was flagged up as the de facto Ulster final and that is exactly how it transpired. It may even be the case that it was the virtual AI final if Kilcoo can continue their imperious form. The next few weeks will tell the tale.

Thought that too about the DG manager when he was talking before the game, seemed very nervous and that would definitely have transposed onto the players.

Cloot was my first ever sporting hero so he gets it for me.

As Sambo said, he was a magician with a hurl and a great character.

Both goals v Offaly in 89 were testaments to what he could do.

Other notable mentions have to go to Dessie Donnelly, James McNaughton, Paul McKillen, Neil McManus And Liam Watson who could have been right at the top if the attitude was better.

Not old enough to have seen Eddie Donnelly or Danny McNaughton but heard a lot of great things about them so likely they should be in that company as well.

Great that these games are free to watch on the Firestick. Enjoyed the Down & Antrim game last night, very enjoyable game for the time of year.

What channel. I could not get them

yeah i was wondering the same, beo sport is hardly available on the firestick, unless you have an iptv provider that pays for the games surely?

Available on the GaaGo channels on the Firestick

I actually tried the GaaGo  channels i have on mine but none showed Down v Antrim.

I take it you mean iptv and not an offiical app on the firestick?

Yeah IPTV on the firestick. £40 a year - Bargain!!

I will keep an eye out on my iptv at the weekend, although i am surprised GAAGo can show them live when Beo Sport are the ones streaming it and charging for it.

Maybe just your one the guy that runs it pays for Beo Sport as part of it, which is pretty good!

Creggan give a very good account of themselves at senior level, were the better team in the 60 mins and just ran out of legs in ET.

TNN extremy unlucky not to be in an ulster final, narrowly falling short against the favourites.

Comgalls came up against a team that many believe shouldnt have been competing at junior level.

All is not doom and gloom in the SW.

Not only unlucky but TNN kicking themselves.

Better team on the day, just maybe that Antrim inferiority complex stopped then getting over the line.

Game was there for the taking but didn't have the confidence to go and take the win on by a big margin and it cost them.

Creggan were just missing a star forward. Good solid team that will get them so far but now they need to get a scoring forward par excellence, maybe one of the injured players this year will do it for them next year.

Happy Christmas to all!

Game should have been over at half time.

Dominated play but just couldn't put the scores on the board to show it.

2nd half very scrappy which didn't suit us as we had the beating of them on football terms.

Gifted them the last two scores.

Lads can hold their heads high as they've done their town and county proud and a bit of luck today and they could have had an Ulster final to end the year.

Strange pairing for tonight's Mageean Cup final, Red High V St Mary's

last minute goal got red high through to the final over St Louis who will be kicking themselves with the second half performance

Why would it be an upset?
I've said in the SFC thread re the Derrygonnelly Dromore game that it wasn't Fermanagh v tyrone playing. Derrygonnelly were getting written off soon as the draw was made
Likewise here this isn't antrim v tyrone
What have Moortown done in recent years to suggest they are overwhelming favourites
I realise most people on here didn't even know Randalstown even had a football team

upset in terms of the bookies, nothing else.

i'm certainly not going there tomorrow thinking they are any better than us.

and that comment is a hard one to take!!  ;D

Wonder if there's a tinge of regret at not throwing an auld stand up at Dunsilly when they were building it?

Dunsilly seems to have been pushed ahead with no forward thinking involved.

3 pitches should have been 2, 1 with a stand.

Entrance into it should have been from the dead end road on the other side of the tracks where the hotel is and parking made available.

Access is straighforward from there and would do away with that tunnel, except for walking through.

As a centre of excellence, they really should have been looking up the road at Owenbeg and copying their example.

FFS in reality it should have been the venue for the county ground due to its central location for the whole county.

And if it is floodlights that are needed, pretty sure i saw some at an old run down pitch in west belfast that they could have taken down and used by another club instead of them being left up there to rot for the last 8 or 9 years with the rest of the stadium.

like the new letrim jersey by mc keever
its quite a trditional style

McKeever doing well. The Leitrim & the new black Armagh jersey are both 2 lovely jerseys by them.

Yeah nice and crisp, simple design. i just think GAA jerseys are a rip off, only thing is most counties keep them for 2 years but still £53 for an adult Leitrim jersey is a bit much

that is where shootjerseys becomes your friend......although you can't get Leitrim there!

Jesus lads cool the jets  ;D. Honestly think our game on Saturday will be very tight.

Also Randalstown surely great value at 3/1? Anyone who has seen both them and Moortown offer any insight for the punter?

were better value at 9/2 but it came in to 3/1 pretty quickly.

hope they can cause an upset here and have the ability and confidence currently to do it i think, unless things get off to a bad start.

Tir na Og's chances Saturday? Good win first day but up against a decent team. The Derry lads seem to be big favs

I was accused of getting Ballinderry GAA in the wrong county before, so seeing as they are so close...

Might as well be in Tyrone for them, lads could jog to the ground for a warm up.

In any case, not worth thinking about how thegame ended up so close to home for Moortown, as if we are good enough to beat them, won't matter what pitch we play them on.

Reading the irish news there about casement. I completely understand where the residents are coming from and why they are opposed to it. Would antrim ever consider changing location? It has became farcical the length of time it has taken and it doesnt seem to be getting any further to being built. Maybe consider building it around antrim/Randalstown areas as central to everyone?

Just for the record i want it built where its at. Absolutely loved playing and watching games there and was always a great buzz when antrim played in championship, those days were hard to beat.

if only there was somewhere in the antrim/randalstown area that the county had land that they could have developed as an alternative to Casement......but then again that would maybe be a (dun)silly idea.....

How did Glenravel do at minor level with this squad?
Beat by StBridgids after ET I think.
Won u14 & u16 sw A with that age group
Had a few LG  & Glen's lads most have now dropped out to focus on small ball

So no mugs, they have developed well then, I haven't seen them in fairness, Cargin, st Brid's  were the stand out teams back then. Tir na Og were pretty decent this year also, but the Con's won well in that game.

Not sure how we'll fair. But bonus territory
Bonus territory! that's a good one. All we've been reading about in the media is this great St Galls U20 squad. 2-3 articles in the Saffron Gael as well as comments by St Galls senior manager. Fair play to the 2 teams getting to the final but the competition itself and the format have been a farce. Hopefully lessons learned for 2022.

When you have time, I'd like to hear your format, and timing of the competition in the calendar year, no good saying its a farce and lesson to be learned if you haven't something to follow it up, who knows who looks in here

BTW the best team I seen this year at that level was Tir na Og, they were dispatched by Glenravel, If I was a betting man Glenravel would be favs

Didn't help 2 Tír na nÓg men getting the line in that game.....should have won otherwise.
