lads you're closing the weekly competition too early, there's still a few hours before Saturday games start but the picks are closed down  2 hours ago.

I've posted the spreads for week 5.

MacHinery et al - did anyone update your picks?

Nope, I thought maybe it was a management decision to shake up the last minute punters that miss the deadline by not updating their picks.  I think it cost me my knockout place too.

The Ulster Scots translation for special needs children is 'wee dafties'.

That's some language!!

It couldn't be any worse weather than the day Slaughtneil beat Carrickmore, gale force wind and driving rain.

Neil the mac makes sense, help out for a while with some of the underage teams in your club then try the foundation course.  It is difficult not to get your foundation certificate.  The level 1 is not a certainty, and takes a bit of time getting your log book completed. I've done foundation and level 1 hurling.  Be prepared to work during the practical sessions if a development squad isn't available.  We spent over three hours participating in the tasks set for each coach on the course. The contacts you make on the courses are useful for arranging challenge matches and also to use as guest coaches to bring in for a session.

GAA Discussion / Re: Paddy Heaney of the irish news!

There were a number of photos in the IN over the last week or two that had the wrong names against players, not just the Paddy Heaney column.

I would have thought Barton might have merited a mention in that list.  6 North Derry men and 3 from Dungiven what does that tell us apart from the fact that it doesnt impress Cromagh?

GAA Discussion / Re: Mistakes that cost games:

Pat McEneaney 1997 Ulster final missed a double bounce of the ball before larryReilly Cavan scored a point and his umpires flagged a point that was clearly wide, evidence provided by video still after the game.  The game finished in a 1 point win and Cavan took an Ulster title before being hammered in the All Ireland semi by Kerry.

Definitely the Mad Ulster Observer although no.1 correspondant behind the scenes was the subject of some stick on this board a couple of years ago because of the amount of coverage he gave one club in particular.
