Keith Floyd RIP - I just watched the excellent show with Keith Allen on him last night too.

Even when I thought cookery was highly uncool, I enjoyed watching Floyd.

RIP.

Same as that.
A legend in my (cook) book. Best show he ever did was the one in South Africa where he was on an ostrich farm doing an ostrich curry. The other ostriches (ie the ones not in the pan) kept coming up and pecking at the wok. Floyd says to camera - im sure im going to get lots of letters about this, smiled and threw back a large glass of red wine. Fair play to him.

It has been scientifically proven that the shannon rises in Fermanagh. Christ the night do you lot know nothing

Eh? Are you sure about that MIB... from that link you've provided:

yes im sure. The source of the Shannon is in Fermanagh. There was a show on the tele about it and they put dye in the water in Fermanagh and the same dye showed up at the shannon pot in Cavan

Source:  The source of the Shannon can actually be traced to Northern Ireland in the Cuilcagh Mountains which are located  in south County Fermanagh. The river, however, rises at the magical Shannon Pot in the foothills of the mountain range in County Cavan in the Republic.

The Bible, i dont know what to make of it to be honest, its up to you own interpretation, religious leaders in muslim world interpretated the quran to suit an agenda to treat women as second class citizens although its changing, i dont think ive ever met a more hyprocritical and poisnoneous race of people in all my life. Stories I could tell.

Should be a interesting course, but still not sure its all true. All religions cant be right. Someones lying.

Would agree with that. Guttersnipes one and all.

Serious question,
apart from the stuff we did in R.E. class at school, has anyone ever done Bible study course?  I ask because there's an 8-week course being run by our church in Perth and I'm keen to go along.  I have images of US-style bible-bashing and the hallelujah brigade which will be a major turn-off.

My good mate, a Muslim, has been telling me about the very close links between the Koran and the Old Testament.  There's a prayer to Mary in it.  And, Muslims venerate the name of Mary when they use it as she was the mother of the prophet Jesus.  Not quite the same links to the Talmud though.

Can i ask what country this Muslim mate of yours hails from ?

Lough erne is connected to the Shannon FACT!

http://www.cruiseireland.com/erne-waterway-holidays.htm
Yes, but that doesn't make Fermanagh the source. It's linked by a canal.

Where does the source come from then?
The Shannon Pot, Cuilcagh Mountain in County Cavan.

It has been scientifically proven that the shannon rises in Fermanagh. Christ the night do you lot know nothing

Why is there a distinct correlation between Welsh accents and Cork/Kerry accents - that lilty sing song way of speaking. Are Cork and Kerry people just descendants of the Welsh that happened to be fit to run/sail away from the Viking/Anglo Saxon invaders ?

5 is always greater than 1, as everyone in Armagh already knows.  :)

Do you understand percentages ?

MIB 79% of people understand them.  19% don't and 5% arent sure what they are.

And what about the rest ? :)

What is the only english word to contain 5 consecutive vowels (no 'y').

No Googling now.

My favourite word to say is 'Sláinte'.  ;D

'Queueing' has five consecutive vowels.

As someone pointed out earlier, 'facetious' has all 5 vowels in alphabetical order.

'Subcontinental' has all 5 in reverse alphabetical order!!

Hang on a second - queuing is how one spells the art of standing in a queue is it not ?

I think a 100% record would indeed prove that Down are the most sucessful Ulster county.

By that logic Donegal share that honour.

Has another Ulster team lost as many All Ireland finals as Armagh? They lost one in the 1950s, though I dont know the exact year, then 1977 which at the time was the biggest defeat ever in a final, then they lost to Tyrone in 2003. Have I missed any?
Losing All Ireland finals is not something we would know much about  ;)

Yes.

Would you like me to spell out ULSTER in foot high letters? It was you who highlighted that part of the quote in the first place.

Cavan in whatever high letters you would like lost finals in 28 37 43 45 and in 49 - that plus the fact they won 5 would prove that they are the most successful Ulster county of all time.

I'd rank Ed Byrne as the biggest gobshite.

Tiernan went so far down in my estimation after the Downs Syndrome debacle that he really cannot get much lower.

What was the downs syndrome incident ?
