Will one of the qualifiers be televised next weekend?

Clare v Mayo.

Then the week after Sky are showing both Round 3B qualifiers live.

All the first round winners lost today in the second round.

20 teams left in the race for Sam.

Unlikely to see that happen again this weekend, 3 of the 1st round winners have a big chance of progressing.

Would expect Armagh to beat Westmeath. Carlow should beat Leitrim too. Cavan v Tipp is tough to call, but Cavan might squeeze through.
Monaghan will definitely beat Wexford, they are the only 1st round winner who will certainly lose.

This weekends qualifiers, which include 2 at 6.30 on Sunday for some mad reason!

Should be a great game on Sunday. Bonus for us to have a game in qualifiers after winning Christy Ring. Between Laois, Carlow, Antrim, Westmeath, Kerry, Meath there is nothing in it reallY. Any of those 6 can beat or lose to the other every time.
What's up with Cha, surely even a half fit Cha would play on Sunday?

All of them are from Carlow. We don't and never have done a Kildare and brought in outsiders.

Just 2 of the team were part of DJ's IT Carlow side. James Doyle who got 4 of the goals on Saturday and Marty Kavanagh who got the other 1. Playing at that high of a level in Fitzgibbon Cup has brought these lads on a lot.

Thanks, we were obviously by far the better side on Saturday after a very even 1st 20 minutes. But I think some posters on here are being very harsh on Antrim.
After all Antrim only lost 1 of the 4 games v Carlow this year, and got promotion to 1B. That's not a bad season at all. Definitely a much improved side compared to last year and will only get better playing in 1B next year.

All of them are from Carlow. We don't and never have done a Kildare and brought in outsiders.

Most of it makes sense to be fair, the integrity of the provincial championships is maintained, the U21 changes are right too but don't see why they couldn't have done same with Minor. The new lineups for the lower tier competitions has a curious anomaly, Sligo finished 3rd in the Meagher Cup group behind Leitrim and Warwickshire, but are automatically promoted while only the winner of saturdays final between those teams goes up, peculiar.

I agree in general I like it but the Sligo thing makes no sense. Neither does the losers of Antrim/Carlow getting into next years qualifier group. While Meath who were in the Leinster group this year, won a game too and only finished 4th on Scoring difference are demoted to Christy Ring.
Fairest solution would be a play off between Meath and losers of Carlow/Antrim

Tg4 have live coverage of all 3 finals at the weekend.

Only online this time rather than on tv. Usually they show either all 3 on tv or the Lory Meagher one online and then the Nicky Rackard & Christy Ring on tv. But none this year. Very strange & disappointing...tg4 are usually great for coverage of gaa.

I don't mind as I'll be in Croke Park but I have an old uncle down the backarse of Carlow where the broadband is brutal, there's no way he will be able to stream tg4.ie.

I sent them an e-mail asking why they're not showing it on tv this year. Will report back if I get an answer!

Good man, they literally have a day of cartoons on instead, surely the finals would get a better audience than that.

2 days later and they still haven't replied. I see it's something to do with it clashing with the Tipp/Cork game which is on RTE at the time.

From a Carlow point of view, gotta be happy with that draw. It was always likely that we'd be away after beating Wicklow at home in last years 1st round. So London was the best one to get.
Decent side, but after our terrible loss at home to them in the league which ended up costing us promotion we are well warned this time.

Be great to win another game and get 4 championship games, can't remember the last time that happened.
I see Connolly got his 12 week ban today, a pity he didn't get the red card he should have got instead on Sat night at the time. Score was Dub 0-9, Car 0-6, it would have put Dub down to 14 after 45 mins. Instead he stayed on & we went down to 14 and Dublin tapped over points in last few mins.

Wishful thinking,ye wouldn't have beat them if ye were still playing.You have to move the ball forward to get scores.It was a bore fest.

Where did I say we would have beaten them? Obviously they would have won, but it would have been by about 6/7 points rather than 12.
For any team, never mind a Div 4 side that is not bad. Yep we played a negative boring game, but had to be done against the best team.

Against teams of our own level we score plenty, even in 1st round we got 2-17.

Just hope Carlow don't drop the heads if the Dubs get a goal as we did when Donegal got a goal before half time the other week.

Great to see good players from other counties on TV. And great that Marty Morrisey isn't commentating and saying "he kicked a point!!!!" In a patronising voice as if a Carlow/Antrim/Wick low man isn't able to swing a f**king leg.

Sean Murphy is lightening and a warrior. Needs to keep it up

At half time I was enjoying it, the plan we had was working and only for a few unusually bad frees by Broderick we could have been even closer. Could see Dublin were frustrated, nobody more than Connolly who was lost & resorted to pushing his marker a lot for no good reason.
Even for the 1st 10/15 mins of the 2nd half we were still there only 3 points down when Connolly should have got a red. Dublin 14 v Carlow 15 might have made it a very different game. But when Brendan Murphy stupidly got a 2nd yellow when we were only 4 behind, that was game over. After that Fenton was freed up and it was all Dublin, to make it a 12 point game which it never was really.

Ha, yeah Sean Murphy was amazing...a great hurler too but focused on football only this year. He's lightening fast, has unreal strength and behind it all is the quietest guy you'll ever meet. After getting man of the match i think he said he was too disappointed to talk...but no, he is so quiet/low profile he'd hate anything like that.

We got a nice draw now away to London, need to go over there do a job and get revenge for the game in Feb where they beat us. Ended up costing us promotion.

Game v Dubs should be in Carlow. This nonsense of having it in Portlaoise, that couldn't host the Dubs last year. I hope they don't get hockeyed.

You have a great memory to remember me, fair play! Think I posted once after we drew away to Westmeath in the 1st league game to tell people we were up to something this year! Then we went out a week later and lost at home to London, so I crawled back into my shell.

To be honest for once we had a bit of confidence going into a championship game. It's by far the strongest panel we've had in my lifetime...got about 90% of the best players involved compared to the usual 50/60% at best.
After the London disaster we won 4 of the next 5 games, including wins away to Wicklow & at home to Limerick & Wexford.

A few of the lads here might know of Steven Poacher from Down, he has been a vital part of the team this year. Every player i have spoken to raves about him & the difference he has made to training. His gameplan along with Turlough O'Brien and the other selectors has really worked. It's a defensive set up, based on breaking fast and hitting a big target man Foley, and off him plays Broderick who kicks points from anywhere.

Once Carlow got Broderick back fit & switched to that gameplan, we have beaten Waterford, Limerick, Wexford twice. Broderick ended up 2nd overall highest scorer in the league after missing almost 2 games.
Sunday was amazing, still hard to believe we actually went out and won a Leinster championship game against a good Wexford side. Last win for us in Leinster was v Louth in 2011, and before that was v Wicklow in 2006 I think!

It was so well deserved, missed 4 other easy goal chances and should have won by a lot more really. Murphy owned midfield, and was unplayable.
Midfield with Brendan & the lightning fast Sean beside him, will be 1 area of the pitch where Carlow might have an advantage over Dublin. Apart from that well hopefully we can compete as best we can. I'm sure Poacher will have some plan set up to limit the damage.

It's a showcase live on Sky too for the likes of Brendan Murphy who is among the top 5 midfielders in the country to be finally seen on a big stage. Same for Paul Broderick, and incredible corner forward with the most amazing left foot. 2nd top scorer on this years league despite missing 2 games, scored 10 points v Wexford. Hopefully they play at their best and make it competitive for as long as possible.

I can't wait anyway....just hope after this we can regroup and have a go at the qualifiers no matter what.

The Dubs will meet Kildare in one semi final. Louth will face Wexford in the other one.
