GAA Discussion / Re: Dublin v Tyrone

Possible team:

Cluxton

Griffen    O'Se   Henry

Brennan    Cullen   Moran

O'Mahony    Magee

Connolly   Brogan   Lally

Keaney  Bonnar   O'Callaghan

Bench

Casey, Ryan, Goggins, Brogan, Cahill, Murray

Big questions are:

1 - Will Shaughnessy/Christie be back soon?
2 - When is Whelan coming back (good to give him a break IMHO)
3 - When will Vaughan, Quinn, Sherlock be back?

Not sure that Casey will be dropped from the team as he had a very good year I thought last year and provides a physical dimension also...agree that Bonnar certainly seemed to improve throughout the season also s he got more used to the pace of championship football...

Possible team:
Cluxton
Griffen Christie/Cahill  Henry
Casey/Shocko  Magee  Moran
Whelan  Cullen   Ryan/Magee
Lally  Quinn   Cosgrove
Brogan Vaughan

Jose

Didn't think he would be but after another 6 months training/practice would it be a possibility as a target man off the bench

Its a tough one about Cullen but think he should probably stay centre-back..

Questions to be answered this season:

1 - Can Vaughan with a full league campaign stand up to be counted as a quality inter-county full forward?
2 - Can Shaghnessy come back and fully challenge for a corner back position?
3 - If Christie isn't good enough to be full back who will play there? Not sure Cahil is the right man.
4 - Can Magee *2 both show good enough form to deserve places and in what positions??
5 - Can Colin Moran take back his position as left wing-back?
6 - Will Brogan junior or someone else come through in the forwards?
7 - Will Lally step up this year and really nail down a place???
8 - Will Miller be able o do a job at all????

Squad available maybe - who can be added to this???

Cluxton

Henry, Griffen, Cahill, Christie, Shaughnessy

Casey, Cullen, Moran, Ryan, Magee, Goggins

Whelan, Ryan, O'Mahony, Magee

Lally, Brogan, Cosgrove, O'Callaghan

Vaughan, Quinn, Sherlock, Bonnar,

Well it will probably be open season for the AFL to poach young players now that the series has been cancelled...especially as the rule about not being able to poach players can't be enforced...

Saw an interview with him in the paper and he was saying that he hadn't been training for about 6 weeks so was out with the missus kicking a ball in the hurricane for practice leading up to the match...give him a few months of pre-season and training etc and we can judge better...

Sure who knows when a big strong full forward on the edge of the square will be useful as long as you have accurate kickers....

The standard in Europe wouldn't be quite that high amongst most teams..The European champions are playing in the Leinster Junior Club Championships this year though

GAA Discussion / Re: Harte calls for GAA World Series

Well there was  a Gaelic World Cup which was played in Dublin every 2nd year with mens teams from Scotland, Europe, Canada, North American Board. United Kingdom, London which finished in 2002 I think or maybe 2004.
The womens tournament still continues and also includes Australia...

At a large number of European GAA tournaments there are Irish club teams playing while on weekend trips.

The winners of this years Mens European League are taking part in the Leinster Junior Club Championship so maybe Mickey Harte should research first before commenting...
