GAA Discussion / Re: Armagh V Kildare
February 05, 2007, 03:13:19 PM
jaysus lads Johnny doyle has a field day and the main talking point is the armagh half back line!!

im a kildare man and it kinda annoys me the way JD gets ignored a lot. he is pure class.
he's a good club man too and will score heaos from the midfield for allenwood.

either way though its early days yet. sure we beat ye last year and our fortunes went in different ways in the end!!

i have a 1987 leinster jersey at home and a lad i know has a yellow tyrone keepers jersey from the 70's.
wore it into whelans a few times and every thought it was legend.
the old school ones are the shit.

i must say i like all the current inter-pro jerseys.

as for kildare the new jersey hasa terrible shape to it. the keepers jersey is good mind.

its a matter of urgency for the county. seriosuly though. mels in longford grooming dessie and gary dolan, steve lohan and a host more. then pats navan providing the backbone to under age teams.

im on the border of meath and offaly so most of my mates went to edenderry or trim cbs, any of the handy ballers anyway.

lads there is a full programme of 11 a side tournaments every year in Europe.
great craic altogher. you have a benelux league in football and the top two go into the euro league to play the spanish, german and french teams.

in the hurling it is more based in northern europe with zurich winning it this year but there are teams everywhere.

great way to make base and if ya know anyone you should go to an event.

bellew no complaints, cassidy is a horse but doesnt use it enough.
def not the rest. mcmenamin actually described himself as "a nasty wee c*+t on the field" in an interview.
he is dity and he openly admitted it, thats not being hard.

is it on the go in easons or anywhere around dublin.
to be fair as i stated before there is only so much you can do at this time of year.
plus there is such a concentration on football in ulster the general public dont pay as much heed to the other codes.

GAA Discussion / Re: Motion could scupper colleges

yeah but unfortunately mac they have to have a blanket rule so the likes of pats and trinity who are not powers suffer.

im sure you see the point.

in kildare they had nui maynooth in the u-21s for a while but how could a rural parish like mine compete with a team full of county minors and 21s. it was a joke. alan brigan and alan dillon on the go!

decent aul show and was good light entertainment.
those boys are just pure natural, they could put their hand to any game and excell.

i do get annoyed though at times when some media heads practically profess undying love for them. not their fault and all the better they kept their feet on the ground. good ambassadors for the country all 3.

GAA Discussion / Re: Under Armour
January 18, 2007, 03:33:32 PM
the cantebury stuff is called armour but as far as i can tell there is no paddin.
if we went down that route lads would be goin out with the rugbytech shoulder pads and the likes.
there is some stuff that is slightly padded coz i remember seeing clancy of laois in a magazine ad for it.
it has become a fashion thing with loads of our minors gone out to buy the black cantebury ones to match the jerseys i hear.

i see o'neills have some too in arnotts.
its hardly armour mind more insulating. was thinkin of gettin some for training where they would keep the muscles warm and stop you pulling anything. the lycra shorts were the same idea for lads with bad hammies.
dont see too much need for the armour in matches unless its bitter cold.

GAA Discussion / GAA Hard men (all counties)
January 17, 2007, 03:23:40 PM
just seeing as this is on the non GAA board and the lads got a slatin for leavin it armagh only lets make it nationwide.
now these are the proper hardy hoors not sneaky dig merchants.

as a lilywhite in the early 90's we had the likes of davey datlon and sos who had little regard for their bodies when lining out for kildare. although still think big paddy o'donoghue was hard to beat. ive seen him turn lads literally upside down with a shoulder.

so nominate away lads

the council are clearly telling setanta taht if they give the name it will be sorted as is everyone else on this board.

i cant understand this at all. if someone from your club was responsible for basically ruining your entire year they should be hung out to dry if they dont have the balls to own up.

what kind of rececption is this man gettin as he lands into the local! he's hardly a hero
